Great intro that can have you coding a web page quickly!
I learned HTML years ago and wanted to come back to it along with JS and CSS, and this was the perfect resource! Lots and lots of great examples. It is stronger in HTML and CSS, but the JavaScript coverage is not bad, just limited. This, along with a second book on JS had me coding my own web page in about 2 weeks!

HTML, CSS, and JavaScript All in One, Sams...
I was surprised just how thick this book was - its already proved to be very valuable in my quest to learn HTML, CSS and JavaScript. I am just dipping in and out at the moment but think that when time permits I should start at the front and work through page by page practicing the steps with files that you can download from the company. I have other books in this series of Sams Teach yourself and this is another worthy addition to the ever expanding list.

A great beginner's tutorial but stops short of the deeper points.
A good solid introduction to these fundamental web tools. It starts from first principles and the explanations and examples are clear. I came at it as someone with a lot of experience of HTML 3.2 and a small amount of CSS and JavaScript but all very basic and with a need to upgrade my skills to the latest technologies. This certainly introduced me to the new tags and capabilities of HTML5 and CSS3 but it is all at a basic level. Just as it started to get interesting it would, as often as not, say "but that's not covered further in this book". Tantalising and not too useful for me. If you are coming to web design from scratch and need a good overall introduction this is a good start. You really do need all 3 languages to build modern web sites and this will get you going with minimal pain but, if you already know the basics and want to delve deeper into the latest standards, it will probably leave you wanting more.

For a seasoned IT professional it was an easy read.
I have read this and was quite impressed with it. There wasn't a single bit that was really badly explained although I am an IT professional with decades of experience so don't take my view as indicative of what it would be like to read for a total beginner. No complaints, a good book with plenty of references to web sites for further reading.

Great beginners guide
Loads of informative information with good examples to start exploring the work behind creating interactive web design. It has loads of useful links and taught me things I've never heard of. This subject is a big one and very exciting.

A very good reference book although I think one should have an idea of the languages first.
I only had time to browse this book here and there but so far it has reached my expectations with clear and practical examples.

Good for absolute beginners but not much more
Good for absolute beginners but not much more. Doesn't have JavaScript form validation or how to make a hoverable drop down navigation menu. I had to look one YouTube for a tutorial one this.

Very useful book for beginners
Very easy to read. Covers overview of the critical topics including HTML5, CSS and JavaScript. While the book is useful to understand the basics, it is not a reference book. I would recommend it to beginners.

Beginner's Book.
I'm a beginner in the programming's area. I recommend it for all people who want to learn in this three contents; HTML, CCS and JavaScript. The text and its vocabulary is perfect. The book's cost is very good reasonably than others programming's books.

Excellent for Learning AND Reference
As a former C-programmer (years ago) who is very rusty in general and new to HTML, I found this to be extremely useful, thorough, and clear. It was helpful to see how JavaScript, CSS, and HTML are used together to create today's web experience. The discussion and examples relating to mobile-friendly apps solved many of my problems. Whenever I ran into difficulty on my current project, I was invariably able to find the answer when I used this book as a reference. And, it was such an accessible and effective learning tool I took it to bed with me each night. It takes more than the "24 hours" cited by many of the Sams books, but every hour is worth it. Highly recommended!
