Do not buy cheap chinese products from weak wood! Buying Valek Rolling Pins you have a guarantee that you buy the highest quality product made from solid wood that comes from sustainable forest. This wooden rolling pin is engraved with beautiful polish folk pattern. It embosses perfectly your cookies, pies, fondant with folky flowers. What an original way to decorate your pastry in just one moment! The roller is perfect to use with clay, you can use it to give texture to your pottery! It's a perfect idea for a gift, not only for bakers! This embossing rolling pins is made from solid beech, protected with oil, (have in mind that, being a natural material, it might present some small imperfections like changes in colour, small fissures etc). This however does not affect neither the quality of use nor the beauty of the rolling pin. The pins are 45cm long and 6cm diameter, and weight about 600gr. I laser-engrave them with a very high precision, and oil them by hand. ***Everything is made locally with love here in Poland.*** They are perfectly safe for use with food. The rolling pin model might slightly differ from the picture. Wash dry with a brush first, then if needed with water, soap and dry well before using again! Do not wash in a dishwasher and try to avoid prolonged contact with water. *** I also put the care instructions as well as the recipe for the cookies with the rolling pin. *** I hope you'll enjoy!

disappointed by my tests
I am very fond of the look of my valek rolling pin, and was expecting a lovely result on cookies etc. I have to say, I tried the recipe included with the rolling pin, and even though I tried more pressure, a different strike, more flour, the pattern did not imprint in the right way. My pattern is "folk" and maybe it is the fact that it contains really tiny engravings, but once embossed in the dough, off to the oven, and whatever pattern I could achieve it disappeared with the cooking process, and I have to say again, yes I used the recipe provided. So, if anyone has tips, I am not giving up, just looking to see how to get those embossed cookies out of the oven with the pattern still there. thanks
