An exceptional quality handmade strop, this Rasoir Sabre France horsehide piece is as wide as any straight razor edge on both sides and uses blue denim cotton, woven with a linen texture, for its preparation surface. Horsebutt is an extremely hard-to-source hide, and these kinds of strops are often hard to come by for retail sale. Both sides have an exposed stropping plane between the endcaps of approximately 18.6-inches. The strop surface will not require any pre-treatment before use, and can be easily maintained with gentle daily hand rubbing before use and an occasional supplement of condensed leather fat (or a leather treatment such as Ballistol oil); its tanning process is more akin to the deceased 'Wild Juchten' burgundy red (from birch oil used in the tanning process), meaning it is far higher friction than a horse shell for example but works tremendously well. Weighs a whopping 10.8 ounces. Produced in France, using horsehide leather vegetable tanned in Italy.
