Everyone was right - these automatic strippers actually work perfectly, Knipex wins again!
I had tried other "automatic" strippers and had very limited luck; with THHN wiring they often pulled the clear protective coating off the wire rather than strip it, but several people told me I HAD to try the Knipex.Long story short, these work absolutely PERFECTLY. They strip the wire, they don't leave a groove in the wire like some other automatic strippers do, and as a whole work the way you think an automatic wire stripper SHOULD.Highly recommended.

Works as advertized.
Works fast as long as wires are straight. I prefer to use it if I have a lot to do or have it handy. I previously bought a cheaper off-brand and returned it for this which is now a permanent resident in my essentials "ladder" tool bag. You've got to be essential and light if I'm gonna be carrying you all around the house or up any ladders.

At last…
Where’s this thing been all my life? I really like it. I’ve worked as an aircraft and marine electrician for around a quarter century and have tried every wire stripper out there. They all have pros and cons. This one is my favorite. I work in very tight spaces and getting a stripper in to strip wires is a real challenge. This really gets in there and makes the work easier. The real test will be durability. I strip a LOT of wires, so we’ll see how it’s working a year from now. There are a lot of moving parts. Serious German engineering.Overall very happy with it.

Difficult to improve over this design
**Knipex Automatic Wire Strippers, 10-24 Gauge Review****Discovery and First Impressions:**I first heard about the Knipex Automatic Wire Strippers on Adam Savage's YouTube channel, Tested. I usually trust his recommendations, so I decided to give these a try. I have some experience with wire stripping, and I plan on doing a lot more, which is why I got them.**Performance:**These wire strippers are amazing when it comes to performance. They strip the ends of wires perfectly, which makes the process really satisfying. I've even found myself stripping spare wires just for fun. You can adjust how much wire you want to strip and how strong the tension is. Even with small wires, I've never had any issues with snapping them. The tool seems to adjust its tension really well, whether you set it high or low. There's also a cutter on top, though it's in a bit of an awkward spot, but it works fine.**Ergonomics:**The ergonomics of this tool are fantastic. It fits well in your hand with a full-handed pistol grip lever action that's comfortable to use. If you have a lot of wires to strip, this tool makes the job much more enjoyable.**Build and Material:**Now, this isn't a cheap tool. It's for people who plan to do a lot of wire stripping and want to save time. While it's a bit pricey for regular folks, it's worth it if you need to strip a lot of wires. However, it is a bit disappointing that the entire tool is made of plastic. Even though it's durable, I expected a bit more for the price. But knowing Knipex, their products are usually high quality and last a long time, so it's only a minor "annoyance" and I didn't dock any stars for it.**Overall Thoughts:**These wire strippers are a joy to use, which is surprising to say about such a tool like this. They're high-performing, likely to last, but come with a higher price tag. If you need to strip a lot of wires, these are worth considering. But if you're not sure if you need them, you probably don't.

Excellent tool, with adjustable tension & strip length gauge
Excellent tool, with adjustable tension & strip length gauge. Automatically releases wire at end of stroke. Recommended, but deducting 1 star due to high price and no user sheet included, although is simple to figure out.

Works well, does not nick the wire, and is very easy to use.
LOVE this! I got the other kind "Self-Adjusting Wire Strippers and Crimper Tool" and that barely works with 12g or 14g wire no matter how much I tighten the adjustment. This took works on both kinds of wire right away.

Fake or poorly made by Knipex
Item arrived in a Knipex-lableled cardboard box with no intructions, manual, or anything. The packaging also lacked any instructions or even a QR code to download the text. Testing the item, I used a small 10-inch piece of 14 gauge wire. The device could not hold the wire and strip it. Complete fail. There are only 2 cheap red plastic adjustment pieces on this stripper: A depth slide to control the amount of insulation to strip from the wire and a red fine adjustment slider built into the head of the stripper. Regardless of slider positions the device simply would not grip the wire tightly to allow the blade to strip the wire. I cannot believe this a a bona-fide Knipex device. I am returning this $47 item and will buy it locally once I test it in the store.

Where has this been all my DIY Life?
Saw this on a YouTube video. Wire striping is a pain in the…. This DIYer recommended & he was right, makes wire stripping fast & easy compared to older methods of removing insulation. Made in Deutschland. Hope it’ll outlast me, despite being plastic.
