The US Navy in World War II (Elite)

Another good read, typical of Osprey's concise format
This publication does justice to OSPREY'S Elite format. Within the space of a few pages only, the author has packed a good deal of highly readable information of the US Navy in WWII, backed by first class illustrations that bring the book to life and will no doubt provide a first class source of reference for the military history enthusiast and the military modeller. Overall highly recommended (also in conjunction with OSPREY's title on the US Coastguard during the same period).

Color panels exceptional
Outstanding color panels and good color quality. I cannot say that about other selections from this publisher...notably the US Marine and US Army colors which are very inaccurate.

Pretty good reference book
This book answered some questions about uniforms and shipboard life I had. Cleared up questions about wearing uniforms in the WW2 movies.

More Good Work from Mark Henry
The suthor has recently come to the table of Osprey's most prolific authors. As a professional historian he knows how to find the more obscure official reports and studies, and has the ability to understand them and the skill to present the information in a clear manner. The subject here is one of vast proportions and a work of this size cannot be complete in all detail. It is nonetheless useful to the general public and as a summary to be used by the enthusiast and professional alike for quick reference. As with the author's other works, it is both succint and comprehensive (with a broad brush) as well.
