I read one by chance so bought the set. Very addictive from start to finish. Very small font though to save paper as they are long books.

Don't doubt it, you'll love the Emperor Series!Altho I was thinking between 4 or 5 starts, I decided to give 5/5. The only reason - I feel like there could be a bit more with and around Mark Anthony as he's one of the Romans I like the most, so it's just on a personal taste matter.Other than that the Series are great! Yes, the first book may start a bit slow for some of you, if you are into fast action, but if you love the step-by-step build up of the characters you won't have any regret about it. Then from book 2 to 5 it's so much action and simply so, so good!The way Caesar, Brutus and Octavian are presented is simple perfection.ps - Just don't compare the books with the Rome TV Series, I didn't want to do so, but my mind somehow kept doing it while I was reading the first 2 books and found myself a bit disappointed in the difference in some of the characters.Both are great, but on their own!

Reading the first of the series and as usual Iggulden does not disappoint. Good bedtime reading. All such novels tend to be formulaic, but this is an engaging tale and bodes well for the others. The underlying research into the historical context supports the storyline very well. Historical novels are apparently a diminishing market but as a form of escapism from modern 'civilisation' they do a good job.
