This best-selling classic provides a graduate-level, non-historical, modern introduction of quantum mechanical concepts. The author, J. J. Sakurai, was a renowned theorist in particle theory. This revision by Jim Napolitano retains the original material and adds topics that extend the text's usefulness into the 21st century. The introduction of new material and modification of existing material, appears in a way that better prepares the student for the next course in quantum field theory. Students will still find such classic developments as neutron interferometer experiments, Feynman path integrals, correlation measurements and Bell's inequality. The style and treatment of topics is now more consistent across chapters. The Second Edition has been updated for currency and consistency across all topics and has been checked for the right amount of mathematical rigor. Review: Pre QFT preparation is done with this. - One of the better ones out there. Gives good references to other materials. I hate that it lacks preface but i read it in the ebook so no worries. It contains a good amount of "it can be shown that" so a lot of work is required to fully grasp it. You should be familiar with a good amount of mathematical methods of physics and basic QM, ED and CM. A little statistical physics is helpful when he discusses ensembles but not needed. Jackson, Goldstein and Sakurai along with Arfken-Weber should be enough for the next stage - QFT. Zee + Peskin is a good intuitive and abstract combination. Review: best for advanced levels - It is a very recommended book in masters course and advanced undergraduate course..the approach of the book is different from any other book..however if u have a clear basic concept about qtm mech(refer zettili) u should go for it ..the quality of the paper is very good and delivery was up to the mark...

Brilliant book; missing the final chapter which is present in international versions
A refreshing take on QM --start directly with operator mechanics and algebraic formulation focusing on states and how they transform. Good exercises reinforce the learning. Disappointed with the missing chapter on relativistic QM. Why not include that in the Indian edition too?

Good References
It's not for beginners. But if you have some exposure to Quantum Mechanics, it's a great reference to build up your concepts. It contains only the non relativistic quantum mechanics. If that's what you are interested in, go for it

One of the best book written on the subject
1. Not a book for first course in quantum mechanics . One must learn wave mechanics before reading this.May be used in 2nd course (If first course is one sem Course ) 2. One of the best book written on the subject.Might be difficult to follow in first reading But after 2-3 try you will be in love with writer's approach. 3.Book contains all the topics in nonrelativistic quantum mechanics required for any university or institute courses (From 2nd couse in qm. to post graduate courses) offered in India(including IISER and IISc.)

Graduate level Quantum Mechanics
Very good book for Quantum Mechanics. Supplement with R Shankar. With this combination you will be fully equipped to handle graduate level Quantum Mechanics.

Good
This textbook takes a different approach to introduce the subject, which I feel is a good way to do it. The later chapters are a bit dense though.

Highly recommended for anyone who needs a solid grounding in quantum mechanics. If you are just being introduced to the topic, try Griffiths' book on QM first and then this one.

It would have been nice to know that it doesn't include chapter 8 before I had purchased the textbook. It was one of the main reasons I wanted to get this book to supplement the content learnt in class.
