Win11 runs smoothly on this machine.
This PC runs smooth on Win11, runs at full resolution on a extra wide screen, and it's whisper quiet. Has lots of ports for keyboard/mouse, camera, thumb drives, etc.

Added another 16GB to bring it to 32GB. Wiped Windows, installed Debian to build an inference server.

The Little Engine That Could (and Then Some)
When you buy a mini PC equipped with an AMD Ryzen 9 7940HS, you expect a solid office machine. What you actually get is a surprisingly potent "everything" box that punches way above its weight class. After putting this unit through its paces—including a fresh OS install and some gaming stress tests—here is the breakdown of why this "lil guy" has become a daily driver. The Performance: Raw Power in a Small Package The heart of this machine is the 7940HS APU, and it is an absolute beast for this form factor. * Daily Tasks: Effortless. Whether it’s heavy multitasking, dozens of browser tabs, or 4K streaming, it doesn't flinch. * Gaming (The Real Surprise): While it won't replace a dedicated high-end rig for AAA titles at Ultra settings, the integrated Radeon graphics are remarkably capable. * MMOs: Ran Star Trek Online and Star Wars: The Old Republic without a hitch. * Optimization: You’ll need to tweak your settings, but the "raw power" of the APU allows games to still look great while maintaining smooth frame rates. * Connectivity: The Wi-Fi is rock solid, which is crucial for a device often used as a secondary streaming or media node. The Setup & Troubleshooting (A Nerd’s Note) If you’re planning on doing a fresh install of Windows 11, be prepared for a little bit of legwork. I encountered some initial slowdowns and driver headaches. > Pro Tip: If you run into AMD driver installation errors (like I did), ensure you have the Microsoft Visual C++ Redistributable packages installed. This was the "magic fix" that cleared up my driver conflicts. > Another major culprit for initial sluggishness was Core Isolation (Memory Integrity) in Windows 11. Disabling this feature significantly improved the responsiveness of the system. The Noise & Thermals: A Tale of Two OSs The hardware behaves very differently depending on what software is steering the ship: * Windows 11: The fan tends to run loud and stays at a high RPM almost constantly. It’s noticeable, especially in a quiet room. * Linux: Interestingly, the machine runs much quieter on Linux. If you're looking for a silent home server or a dedicated terminal, Linux seems to handle the thermal curves much more gracefully. The Verdict This mini PC was originally meant to be a "secondary" device for streaming, but it’s so fast and capable that I find myself using it every single day. The Good: * Incredible CPU performance for the size. * Legitimate gaming capability for MMOs and lighter titles. * Compact and aesthetically pleasing. The Bad: * Fan noise can be aggressive on Windows. * Requires some technical "tinkering" (Drivers/Core Isolation) to reach peak performance. Final Thought: If you aren't afraid to dive into the settings and handle a few driver hiccups, this 7940HS unit is a powerhouse. It’s a perfect bridge between a basic NUC and a full-sized gaming desktop. I'm looking forward to seeing just how many tasks I can throw at it before it breaks a sweat.

Good but some issues
Update-an IT guy was able to fix it and it now works great but I shouldn’t have to hire an IT guy to fix a brand new computer. Doesn’t work! Won’t connect to the internet with WiFi, I’ve emailed them 5 times, received one response saying I need to download a fix, the link brings me to 25 download options and I have no idea which one, nobody will tell me which one! Absolute nightmare! Don't recommend at all!!
