About the Author Dr. Shamloul is an andrologist, researcher, and men's health expert. He is a staff member of the Andrology Department, Cairo University, Egypt. He currently works at the Ottawa Hospital Research Institute. Dr. Shamloul has great interest in men's health in general, including erectile dysfunction, hypogonadism, and medical and surgical management of Peyronie's disease. He is also an expert in male infertility. Dr. Shamloul graduated from Cairo Medical School in 1998, and he followed that by completing his residency in 2003. In 2004, Dr. Shamloul went to Canada to attain a PhD in vascular physiology. Dr. Shamloul has worked since in Queen's University and Ottawa Hospital, Canada. Dr. Shamloul has over 120 peer-reviewed publications and book chapters in the medical literature, including a well-known paper in Lancet. He has been awarded numerous prizes for his research work. Dr. Bella is a urological surgeon, researcher, and educator. He is the Greta and John Hansen Chair in Men's Health Research, an Assistant Professor of Urology and the Director of Basic Urologic Research at the University of Ottawa, Canada, and an Associate Scientist (Neuroscience) at the Ottawa Hospital Research Institute, University of Ottawa, Canada. Dr. Bella's primary urologic clinical interests are management of post-prostate cancer treatment complications, erectile dysfunction, hypogonadism, genitourologic prosthetic surgery, and medical and surgical management of Peyronie's disease. Dr. Bella was accepted to medical school at McMaster University and, after completing his studies, trained in General Surgery at McMaster followed by Urological Surgery at the University of Western Ontario. Dr. Bella then completed a combined research and clinical fellowship under Dr. Tom F. Lue at the University of California San Francisco; he was the first American Foundation for Urologic Disease Robert J. Krane Scholar, received a California Urology Foundation Award for stem cell research, and was named the American Urologic Association Foundation Outstanding Graduate Scholar while at UCSF. Dr. Bella has coauthored more than 90 peer-reviewed publications and book chapters in the medical literature to date and has been awarded several national and international prizes for basic and clinical research, including the prestigious Emile Tanagho Prize for Innovative Research in Brussels in 2009 and being named a Canadian Urological Association-European Association of Urology Visiting Scholar in 2011.
