Comments are based on images viewed on a relatively old, low spec. P.C. It's unlikely that the P.C. significantly reduces the quality of the images but I can't be sure as I haven't been able to compare them with those displayed by a different device.Below is a list of the most relevant comments which come to mind over a period of approximately 6 weeks of ownership.1. The touch screen responds well.2. Information surrounding the image on the screen can be removed so that the whole of the screen displays only the image when taking a photo./video. This allows for accurate composition.3. Turning sound on and off may be done via the screen which saves time in locating this option via the menus.4. Image stabilisation appears to work well as there is less vibration than expected when making a video from a cycle's handlebars.5. It is very easy to navigate between modes and settings via the screen. This is less easy, but still possible, when the unit is inside the waterproof case.6. Video quality is reasonable but not outstanding but see the above comments on my old, low spec. P.C.7. A (short) time-lapse video produced very good results.8. Accessories include a memory card, badged as Kingston, and 2 batteries so it's possible to use the camera straight from the box.9. Photos. are, generally, OK but not brilliant.10. A power option allows the camera to be set to switch off the screen, to save battery life, but continue to record video.11. A useful tripod point is built into the camera.12. Generally, the camera is intuitive in use which means that time isn't wasted in capturing images.13. The inclusion of a motion detection mode is very useful.14. A photo. taken in bright, high contrast light, was unacceptably poor.In summary, the camera does not produce images comparable with some YouTube videos made with, for example, a GoPro but this cannot be expected given the considerable difference in price between the 2 products.

I was after an action camera that I could use on a casual basis for all the typical stuff that one is likely to do, either on holiday or an activity weekend. However, because I have never previously owned one, and not wanting to pay the price of the top brands, I had a good look around Amazon to see which one stuck out as a decent alternative, and after careful consideration I decided that the VanTop Moment 4 was the one. For the money, you get a very good package, what with the accessories, batteries and SD card that are included. However, it is the camera itself that I am impressed with. It is very easy to get to grips with the menu, and the touchscreen is a nice size to be useable without making the camera itself oversized. From the videos and photos that I have taken with it, I am very satisfied with the quality of both. At the end of the day I know that I’m not going to be getting the same results as the top of the range makes, but for beginners like me this camera is perfectly fine. Fundamentally, if you are looking for a decent action camera that will be used for good old family fun, then for this price I would recommend this camera as I believe it does pack a decent punch for it’s size compared to the more expensive makes, but will not break the bank. The only thing I would say against this camera is that the Power/Mode button on top of the camera will switch from video to photo but not back again. It would be nice to be able to toggle between the two without having to resort to using the touchscreen, but I can live with this. Also, I can commend customer support who were very swift to respond to my query about this. Finally, do read all the reviews on Amazon about this camera from other customers, because I picked up some very useful tips about the most little of things.

Good touch screen. Easy to use. Everything the reviews said it would be, even though the SD card and user manual were missing Amazon answering queries straight away. Another SD card has been purchased so that we could get on with using it. good action cam pleased with purchase. Since writing my review I took advantage of the offer of a free gift which came in the package. Van TopCouldn’t find my order and it was not via Amazon, but Sophie at Van Top kept assisting me until we discovered this was fulfilledVia another company, Van Direct. However for good customer service Van TopHave honoured the offer. What great service, could not be more pleased and the product is still working excellently.
