you need to format the disk, the camera will usually have a command to do that or a PC that accepts SD cards, from a PC or laptop, select the drive that gets assigned to the card, at a DOS prompt, type format x: X=drive letter assigned to the card, my camera had the command in the utilities menu

These have worked on every phone I've ever had, that takes micro USB cards. The only potential issue one can run into, is if the device has a maximum memory size limit, like, say, 56 MB. But that's mostly older devices that have such low limits, in my experience.
