Expensive, but built for life.
My partner is Italian, from Napoli... so, needless to say, he's into coffee. My mom bought him this moka pot for his birthday this year and he's absolutely in love with it. He won't use any of the others now. It's great too because it's a hook rather than a screw on, so no problems opening/closing it, etc. (He's strong and I'd frequently find I couldn't get the coffee pot open again! Ahh!) It's definitely made for life with an impressive design. We love it!

Great Coffee maker - reliable and easy to use
This is brilliant - well made, solid Stainless. Really easy to use - just unclip and clean / refill. Much better than Bialetti it replaced where the handle fell off after 3 weeks. That was quite flimsy by comparison as they economised on build. Only issue is you cannot pour too quickly or it dribbles....

A design classic
I cannot praise this design enough. I am still using the one I bought about 25 years ago, and it's still in perfect condition. It is HEAVY stainless steel (unlike the much thinner and cheaper models made by all other companies I've seen.) And the clip-on top is just amazingly easy and efficient to use. I can't believe this model isn't available everywhere, because it truly is superb. I have no negatives to say, except that it's difficult to find the gaskets for sale. I am delighted to find them for sale on Amazon. However, I've made my own from thick silicone for many years, and before that, a double layer of rubber cut from a hot water bottle. There was no way I was going to get rid of this pot simply because I couldn't get gaskets for it. This pot is not suitable for induction hobs, but I've used it on an ordinary electric hob for years, and more recently, our new gas hob. It will probably require a little converter stand on a gas hob because its footprint is only 9.5cm for the 6/3 cup model. However these converter stands are readily and cheaply available, and can be used with small saucepans as well. I have just ordered a second pot as a gift for a friend. I will amend this review if, when it arrives, it's not exactly the same as the one I have owned for so long. However, it looks to be the same exact design. And as a design it cannot be faulted. Such a shame that the company Giannini seems to not be making these any more. I can't imagine why. If I could give this product 10 stars, I would. It's a design classic.

INDUCTION HOB FAIL!
WARNING: THIS DOES NOT WORK ON INDUCTION HOBS. This coffee maker is lovely. It is very well made, and looks divine. However, I bought it to use on my boat, for which it is useless. I removed all gas and gas appliances from my boat having seen the results of a gas explosion on a neighbour's sail boat. Fortunately, nobody was aboard at the time, but the boat was blown apart and sank. So, I decided to remove the risk altogether, and replaced my cooker and hob with a microwave and an induction hob. Now, believe me, it's not at all easy to find an espresso maker that claims to work on induction hobs. Most are made of aluminium. So I was resigned to paying the Earth for this one. Over £75 for the smallest one. When it arrived I was super impressed. It's very well made, and even comes with a spare gasket. Strangely, they tell you NOT to tamp down the grounds, and it took a few attempts to get the grind right. Too course and you get weak coffee. Too fine and it simply won't flow through properly. But at home at least it worked well in the end. I was looking forward to trying it on the boat.... Now, my induction hob is a deLonghi, single ring hob. And thereby lies the issue. The coffee maker barely covers the centre ring on the hob. Therefore, the hob doesn't 'detect' the pot, and the safety device cuts the power straight away. If you have a domestic induction hob, with a small ring for smaller pots, you might get this coffee pot to work. But on a standard plate sized ring, it won't. In the end, I decided to keep the pot, and use it at home. It's nicer than my old one, which I've had twenty years, and is rather tatty. So, in summary, this is a nice pot. Expensive. But nice. But if you're buying it, as I did, to use on an induction hob..... don't !!!

Wow… I mean… Where to begin! Looks beautiful. Feels great. Seemed sturdy and well made. Locking mechanism is great. Everything seemed great… except… The lid wasn’t completely flushed or levelled and was not centred right. The valve kept making noise and released steam all the time. The filter itself has a hole in it which defeats the very purpose of having the pressure coming from the very bottom. Also, water keeps getting stuck in it which makes drying it a chore that takes way too long than it should. The rubber gasket got all deformed within several uses. The entire machine gets way too hot no matter how low the heat/flame is and it takes a lot longer to brew not to mention that due to how it works low heat brew doesn’t work as well. Got back to my old, cheap, simple Bialetti that isn’t as heavy, doesn’t make a noise, doesn’t release dangerous steam, doesn’t get over heated, the rubber gasket is still fine after several years and sits flatter! What a huge disappointment! Sent it back! NOT recommended at all!

Well made, quick shipping and ease of use make this maker very desirable. Much easier than the screw together types. Better gaskets and they seem to be made of thicker stainless steel. I have been using moka pots for years, and without doubt this is the best one I have used. They are guaranteed for 10 years, but will probably last forever if you replace the gasket when needed, which shouldn't be very often.
