We manufacture a soapstone product that requires extensive sanding through 4 grits of Abranet to shape before polishing. The stone is too soft to use with a belt or disc sander, and the stone dust accumulates very quickly. I was looking for a way to sand them on a flat surface and remove the dust as it falls (it's heavy, not floating). I've set up the Mirka block upside down in a vise on my bench, and it's the perfect solution. All the dust falls through the mesh and into the vacuum. It's a game-changer for us, an inexpensive, quiet solution with our dust collection in a soundproof room. Now I can sand without ear cans while listening to music, and the shop stays clean. It's also made a real difference with efficiency, as we don't have to stop and clean the work area every 30 minutes, nor do any major clean up at day's end.
