Uncle John's Bathroom Reader Salutes the Armed Forces

Maybe other editions are better, but this one reminds me of a collection of "Trivial Pursuit" factoids in book form. I had expected short articles and stories that I could read aloud to my elderly mother (NOT in the bathroom). This does not fulfill that function.

I got this for my husband's birthday as he loves the one we have already. This has a lot of history stuff and not so much jokes, funny stories and the like such as the previous editions we've gotten. My fault for not reading thoroughly through previous reviews and the back of the book itself. But it is still a great read, especially if you like anything military related.

I purchased a version of this about 5 years ago. There is a new one each year with different facts and information. This has almost become a tradition at our house to have available daily little known facts and interesting information while spending time in the "library". The hard part is to not read ahead . . . I will be purchasing the 2014 version soon. I'm sure there would be disappointment if I didn't keep up the tradition.

I have been reading Uncle John's Bathroom Readers for 25 years and never get tired of them. I'd already read Plunges into New York but didn't expect to read about Texas. Then, a very good friend moved there so I bought one for him and, of course, had to buy one for me as well. He loved it and I did too. But that's no surprise since I've enjoyed so many Bathroom Readers. And I expect to continue reading them for many years.

this isnt a THICK 250 page book; it is about a 1/3 of the others i have buy still a good book

I started reading these by accident a few years ago. They are great because you can pick the book up, read a few pages, then put it down and pick it up and start in another area of the book all together next time. The series are not chapter books. My 9 year old daughter loves them too. Full of facts. We are working our way through all of them. They get left wherever the last person in the family happened to sit them and the next person picks it up and opens a page and starts reading.

Sometimes funny but often informative -- and always entertaining! My wife and I look forward to advancing the calendar every day because we know the tidbits of information will provide something interesting to muse upon each morning.

Always a hit! I buy these for all the men in the family every year. The first one was ordered years ago for Uncle John from his nieces. The tradition expanded from there. Uncles, Husband, son-in-laws, friends...they all get one and have it in their bathrooms for a daily treat.

More worn than was mentioned, but no damage to binding or pages.

I keep expanding my Bathroom Reader collection and am never disappointed.
