Myself an OBC have always felt uneasy when ambedkar was hailed as some sort of Messiah for lower caste hindus as I was aware of the fact the kind of abuses he has hurled upon or Gods which for me was unbearable but the arguments from other side (those advocating him as a hero) compelled me to read more about him and must I say I am flabbergasted by this book , this book has in a way raised the position of Gandhi though I still despise his stand against abrahamics but to know abedkar and his deeds there can be no good book other than this great piece. Would certainly explore more of Arun Shouries books.Highly recommended especially to General class of people to see who is this guy who is shoved down the throats of general caste hindus by mass media politicians and more importantly By the teachers especially those of UPSC Coaching teachers.

Intresting and shocking facts which our schools, colleges,media and politicians had kept under the table so as to brainwash the generations.

No doubt about Dr. Ambedkar being great leader of modern India. Also he is one of the scholars who got into London school of Economics in early 20th century. So you can have little idea about his brilliance.Title of this book seems to criticise such a great man but, let me assure you, it doesnt! On another way This book highlights struggle of that person with evidences. This shows the high level of political command of Mr. Ambedkar on the Society. His decisions to keep Lower strata ( specially Mahar community in support of Britishers and not letting them into freedom struggle might feel wrong today but considering vulnerability of that community the decision is justifiable.)So in all detail analysis is done by MR. Arun Shourie on Dr.Ambedkar. This book is worth of reading at least once.

Excellent and needed one in the present times. Kudos to the author Shourie, shrewd and unbiased. It won me to wish to translate it or to present it in an abridged version of around 150 pages to suit the present Telugu readers to serve the purpose. This kind of books better serve the purpose in regional languages.Here, a pertinent point. In the most of websites Ambedkar is described as chief architect or principal architect of the Constitution. And, on back cover of the book 'The Essential Writings of B.R. AMBEDKAR' by OXFORD UNIVERSITY PRESS, its author Valerian Rodriguez, a JNU Delhi Professor, wrote: '...gave the country its Constitution'. This kind of writings became common these days. In Telugu the usage turned to be 'రాజ్యాంగ నిర్మాత', means producer/provider of the Constitution.Are not the histories of the framing of the Constitution of India, either by B.Shiva Rao or Austin or the 11 volumes of documents present in Lokh Sabha Secretariat sufficient to present as material evidence before the Court to seek appropriate Orders to curtail such things for not to demean and defame the Constituent Assembly and the Constitution of India?

It is a scholarly book that quotes extensively from Dr. Ambedkar's writings and speeches and without any opinionated remarks shows the other side which is not quite known by many hero worshiping persons.

The author of this book has made sure that other Indians who hate equality fraternity and justice among can take the help of this book to show Dr Ambedkar in bad lights. His struggle and his life he sacrificed for social justice and equality among the depressed class .. The author justifies dr ambedkar struggle as selfish and against fellow Indians.. But after reading this book my respect for Dr Ambedkar increased immensely as the author clearly tried to show how hard dr Ambedkar had to fight against those who wanted brahmins india and not democratic India My salute to dr ambedkar for giving the best knowledge so that we Indians can live

This book could have been better. Easier to read and shorter. If only it focused less on advocacy and more on the facts it laboriously gathers and shares. Much has been made of Ambedkar being the "architect" of India's Constitution. And Ambedkar is often revered as if a god. The book explains, convincingly, that Ambedkar was not the architect of India's Constitution, but an important participant in what was an elaborate exercise involving many people, chiefly Nehru, Sardar Patel, BN Rau, SN Mukherjee and many lawyers, academicians, political leaders and statesmen. It also shows that Ambedkar was not a "god" he is made out to be. Good reading for anyone interested in the making of India's Constitution. And yes, if one does not care for poor quality paper or printing, one might be tempted to give it 4 stars instead of 3 it more than deserves.
