It worked and seems better than the original part
Photos are from the old/broken part.My Husqvarna YTA18542 had stopped going forward or backwards when applying the pedal, it sounded like something was spinning/grinding but no movement. Also, shifting into reverse was very very difficult, that is if I was even able to get it into reverse gear at all.I was able to replace this part in about 20mins by:1) flipping the seat forward and removing the battery (and battery compartment).2) removing the existing part by taking off the top (4) screws, then removing the (2) belts, then it pulled right out.3) I could see the existing brackets and plastic sections of this part were broken, removed those.4) installed the debris shield5) installed the new brackets and new part, putting the belts back in place, and securing the (4) top screws.6) put the battery cover and battery back in.It worked great and now my mower goes forward when applying the pedal, and easily goes into reverse as it should! I was really worried thinking I might need to change the whole transmission out but this part did the trick for a fraction of the cost of a new transmission!

Fit like a glove.
The main part is great. Easy to install, if you know what end of a screwdriver to use. Would have given 5 ⭐️ except the debris shield broke in half while installing. No big deal still functional. Saved me from buying a new mower.

Didn’t need the part
I have had my Ariens mower for 6 years now. Changed the oil once. :)Replaced a head gasket (30 mins)This CV part wasn’t doing it’s job. Forward was normal but weak going up hills, wouldn’t make it unless I went full speed. Reverse was a joke.Well, I took this part out. Took it apart and found the retaining pin for the lower pully was just floating around inside.Put it back where it belonged and just like that I have restored my forward and reverse. Now I can back up hills!People bash this transmission because it’s a plastic housing. At least it won’t rust.I mow 3 acres once to twice a week and I live in Maine. Trust me it’s rocks, sticks, bumpy as can be. I really should use a zero turn mower. Too costly.Anyway, this tranny can hold up to serious abuse. Not to mention I have hauled wood and even dragged trees with it. So, you either got a bad one or you are doing something wrong. Mine has been a champ.

Saved me $2000!
Ariens mower would not move.It is 8 years old, looks and runs good but Dealer wanted $$$ to fix and a new mower is $2000.I replaced this part myself in 15 minutes for $134. Back mowing again!

Anti-Debris Kit
The installation was pretty much straight foreward. I hope this kit resolves the problem with debris building up under the variator which caused the transmission to act irradically. When I initally purchased the tractor(2015) I guess this problem wasn't known and my transmission would not work properly. It was still under warranty so the dealer replaced the transmission. Unessisarilly as it would turnout. The company put out a video to dissasemble the variator and clean out the accumulated debris, ie: grass clippings and leaves. That worked until the debris built up again. The company then re-engineered the variator with modified fins to blow away those clippings and added a shield on the top. So far it's working as it should. The company did not accept responsibility like auto manufacturers do and offer the kit as a recall which would have been nice. You have to purchase the kit. I suppose time will tell if the kit prevents the tranny from acting erratic.

Worked like a charm!
After taking my mower to two different repair shops and wasting a lot of my time because they didn't know anything about these transmissions, I finally saw that the original part was all chewed up. I couldn't get the trans to engage either fwd or reverse. It took about 1/2 hour to replace this part as I was able to access it through the battery opening. I did not have to drop the transmission. As the saying goes, "if you want something done right, you have to do it yourself." Very happy with the purchase and the results.
