Easiest way to change a single gang socket to a 3G socket.
Moved into a house, which due to its age had loads of single gang mains sockets throughout. As an alternative to the mess of chasing out walls to change them to double sockets, this product comes up trumps. Protrudes from the wall just like a standard surface mounted box. Secured to the wall by using the socket mounting screws from the old SG box. If your existing cable is too short, simply extend a bit with snap-fit connectors - there's loads of space to push them out of the way inside the old pattress box. Electrically, it's a bit like adding a spur to an existing socket and it's fused for 13A. However, you can extend the ring completely (or connect it if your wires are long enough) by using 'double' wires, i.e. extend the ring by using 4 way snap-fit connectors and connect the whole lot into the socket. Excellent alternative to messing about (and the mess) of completely changing out a 1G socket to a 2G or 3G.

Not the best build, but functional
Not the best build, but functional. The terminal screw fell off and went into the product, I had to dismantle and reassemble the thing.Very fiddly to do, I saw the building inside, not a patch on the existing one by Wickes it weas replacing, but the switch failed on that after 25 years and it was out of stock of course! One thing I noticed is that it is impossible to get the 13A fuse out, it is stuck in so tight it there for life, unless you dismantle the thing (and maybe throw it away)I tested this with a professional socket tester after re-build it is fine now.TIP: take care undoing the terminal screws they are MUCH SHORTER than other similar units

Good quality
Good quality - does the job. I was concerned that this item was identified as frequently returned, but I encountered no problems. Plastic was robust, plenty of options for mounting and cable entry. No problems encountered with electrical termination screws and connections -all good.

White Triple Switched Socket with Back Box
Got this for my mate as it needed an extra socket to the double being used. Good item and does the job and easy to "wire up" and looks good and safe and professional plus does the job perfectly & easily.

Do not buy - cheap, poorly designed
This is a terribly made product. The live and neutral screws are inserted at a very strange angle. If you are unfortunate enough as I was to fully unscrew them, they will fall inside the housing and be completely impossible to get back in. Also the switches were very poor quality such that it was not clear whether they were on or off.

Good sockets but broken on receipt
These sockets appeared to have been well made, of good quality and reasonably price, and would have been perfect for the job I wanted them for.I would have given them 4 or 5 stars. However, regrettably, the supplier sent them to me in a padded envelope which was inadequate to protect the sockets from damage in transit. As a consequence when I opened the package I found one socket broken in two and the other socket & it’s back-box both smashed to pieces. So I claimed a refund and didn’t risk reordering.

Hard to fit, but seems good (provisionally).
I managed to fit this but only just! It would be easy to fit if starting from scratch but I was replacing an old single gang 13A socket. The existing ring main wiring was almost too short and buried in plaster. I was also handicapped because there was a huge kitchen cupboard 5" above the socket, ideal for banging one's head against. These two facts made it very hard to install. I almost gave up but had a brainwave. I had a dental mirror with a built-in light which enabled me to see if the wires were properly inserted into the terminals and locate the terminal screws. I own a really good electrical screwdriver which is normally ideal for tightening the terminals but not this time. It kept clashing with the pesky cupboard mentioned above. I had to use a shorter screwdriver whose blade was a bit thin but just about did the job.The design of the socket would be better if it gave several screw positions for each of the three mains lines (L,N,E). This would help overcome the 'wire too short' problem. This would put the price up a bit but I'd happily pay the extra to avoid the struggle that I've just gone through.Forgetting the fitting difficulty, it does seem to be a good 3 gang socket. I say this provisionally though because I have not used it in earnest yet. I do a lot of brewing were I use a lot of power for hours on end. If it's a poor socket, it will get damn hot. If possible, I'll update the review when I've learnt more.
