Having read other reviews mentioning paracord unraveling, and worrying about losing the black hawks on missed throws, the first thing I did with mine is to put red heatshrink tubing over the paracord handles. The blades are very sharp and the heatshrink and paracord underneath will still slice instantly if you hit the handle of another hawk, but at least the rest of the heatshrink prevents the paracord from further unraveling. These hawks are very light and small, and they rotate a lot as a result and you also will have to throw them with a bit more force. Still, once you get the right distance and release, they are very easy to stick consistently. At a distance of about 15 feet, I get two full rotations to stick the blade. Compared to the heavier and longer Fasthawk for which I get one rotation at roughly the same distance. During the first session, I had many missed throws with impacts to various parts of the hawks. The hawks are holding up very well. 3 stars for light weight - would like them to be a bit heavier, but they are fun for what they are. 4/5 stars for durability/sturdiness - paracord gets damaged easily, the steel is holding up great. 5 stars overall. Just adapt your technique to the light weight and take some measures to protect the paracord, and you'll have no other complaints about this set of hawks. Tons of fun!

These are lightweight, so are easy to throw for all ages and ability. Beware, they are sharp. I have had them for two months now, and they have held up great. There is no rust and there are a few dings from hitting other axes in the target. The parachute cord handle needs to be glued to keep from sliding up the handle and. is starting to get nicked from contact from other throws (glue or use nail polish to keep from fraying after getting nicked). I only use the axe covers to transport them, as it takes a while to inset the axes in them. Overall, I am very satisfied.

This is actually the second set of SOG throwing axes I own. They are light but very durable, being made out of solid steel. I and many other guests at my house have used them over the past 2 summers. They definitely have almost no practical utility as they are smaller than a camping hatchet and are just for sport/fun. The one small defect is that the paracord wrapped around the handle will quickly come apart after several good throws. This is no big loss, however, and I simply wrapped the handles in bright electrical tape. I also use larger hatchets to throw, but these are easier to use and you will not wear out your target as fast. They are a lot of fun and really good for children since they are lightweight.

I cannot believe how well these are made, especially for the price. My friend and I have been using these all summer. The are sharp as heck, well balanced and crafted well. It was a reminiscent/joke gift. Now I own my own and we are back into target throwing. You could even take these hiking for use in kindling and cutting (the temptation to throw it though...) The only negative is that they are so sharp one nicked the cordage handle and we had to replace it. We got the neon/glow in the dark cordage as it makes finding missed throws much easier.

Bought a pack of three for throwing in the back yard. They are super lightweight, so I’d be afraid they’d break if treated like a real tool. Super sharp right out of the box. My biggest gripe is also about the paracord. The knot unties and tries to unravel immediately. I recommend gluing that knot down or electrical taping over it before you even throw once. When the knot comes undone, it’s a pain in the butt to retie! If you’re already used to standard size/weight hawks, I’d give this one a miss as it takes a lot of getting used to the super light weight. Altogether not a bad throwing toy. Just needs work on the cording, and patience throwing the lighter hawk.

Very durable* During practice these have landed hard on rocks and concrete and aren't worse for wear. About the only thing to damage them (superficially) is another thrown axe. I tried drilling a hole a bit further up the handle to make rewrapping them easier and gave up after ruining 3 HHS drill bits. The steel is very hard. The handle cord *The cord wrapped around them will have to be replaced. When you hit one of them with the blade of another you'll fray or sever the cord. I recommend replacing it with something bright and painting the exposed metal to make them more visible. You will lose them if you keep them all black. Sheath The sheet is impractical and otherwise only useful for storing them. Throwing They are very light but throw reasonably well. After finding my distances, they hit the target quite consistently. I had better luck at first throwing them point first.

got a chance to try these at a scouting event. they threw so well I was very surprised to see the low cost of the set of 3. I am going to change the cord wrap out for something higher vis because they can be hard to find after an overthrow but there is a lot of fun to be had with these and they're pretty safe if you use a little common sense. Note my picture for how to put the whole set in the included sheath which is not immediately obvious, but clever when you realize the straps keep them from rattling against each other. throwing tip: let go earlier than you think you should. the rotation will be right if you let go when the blade is parallel to the target.

I threw tomahawks as a young man and recently had my interest rekindled with all of the axe throwing surge in popularity. So, I built a wooden axe-throwing target and began to throw my tomahawks again, along with some Harbor Freight hatchets. My wife had trouble throwing my tomahawks and hatchets, so I bought her these (yes, we are rednecks). She liked them a lot. I scoffed at them because they were a lot smaller than the ones I like to throw. However, Iit wasn't long before I started enjoyed throwing them too. They are kind of like shooting .22's......small, but fun. Because they have the spike on the back, they stick on either side. I highly recommend them. Oh sure, they don't have the satisfying "thud" that a heavier hatchet or tomahawk has, but they are still worth adding to your collection.

I purchased these axes for a Winter Survival event called a "Snow Derby" put on by the Calvinist Cadet Corps boy boys aged 9-14. One of the events every year is a "Mystery" event. In the past we've done pellet guns, archery, and slingshots. We were looking for something new to do and had the idea to do Axe throwing. I purchased three sets (9 axes total) of these and built targets for the event. All total we had about 150 boys throw 4 throws (1 practice, 3 scored) between the 9 axes. Not to mention the adults supervising were throwing them non-stop during slow periods at the event. each axe was thrown at least 100 times on average and we had no issues. All the axes stayed sharp enough all day except one that got thrown and hit a rock. But it was easily sharpened. All in all I was very impressed with these affordable axes and would definitely recommend them. They far exceeded my expectations for these axes.

These are tiny little hatchets but oh so much fun for throwing at targets. They're very easy to throw and aim due to their light size, very fun, would recommend :)

Great as my first throwing axe. I don't have a comparison to other axes but these will do the trick for some backyard fun. Light weight and very sharp. The metal is somewhat cheap and easily be damaged (any part of the axe, even if it's the handle that erroneously hits something). Good news is that the edge is the easiest thing to sharpen. A few quick passes over a leather strop before a throwing session is all you need. A tad more over-all weight would be nice.

They’re made pretty well and actually come quite sharp compared to other knives on amazon. The case is kinda wack and don’t work very well but the knives themselves are good.

We purchased this product and within two days of usage the strings on the handles fell apart. Not worth the money paid.
