The instructions are pictures only, no words. You should spend 15 minutes just laying out the parts and going over the "instructions". There are 7 types of fasteners (screws, nuts and bolts) and 24 assembly steps. Some of the screw holes did not line up between parts so I had to get out the power drill. I think I'm fairly competent and it took me a solid 2 hours. If you don't have an electric drill/screwdriver and have never put together something similar, expect it to take longer. Amazon charges $99 for assembly, which should give you an idea how easy it is. **Q: I've noticed that my smoker gets too hot - the chips catch fire, and the internal temp of the cabinet reaches 500 degrees or more. How to fix this??** A: The unit will require full cleaning the interior. Presoaking your chips will raise their ignition temperature. I highly recommend this smoker It is absolutely fabulous and the beef ribs that I cooked in it last night came up perfect The one thing you have to be careful with is the side door latches get very hot even though they’re on the outside when you go to open the door to check on your food.
