The Penguin Book of Hell (Penguin Classics)

Has a hell of a lot of info and great pictures. (Sorry for the pun!)

I got this book for my husband for his birthday, at his request. It shipped fast, in plenty of time for the big day. He was thrilled by the book, and the convenient size is a plus. He says he's gotten a lot of interested comments from people who have seen him reading it.

Well no sight seeing.But you know you will be screwed if you go. Lots of torture & just a bad place to stay.I want to be a better person but probley to late.

I enjoyed this book a lot. Interesting accounts of how he’ll is viewed across centuries and cultures. And so that’s it.

Very interesting book on history of hell and how different cultures have portrayed hell throughout time

Interesting story, but only dealt with Christian hell, aside from hell on earth. Didn’t go into non judo Christian hells

A fun book. A bit limited in scope perhaps.

It was interesting, but I anticipated commentary on the historical works rather than just excepts from books.

If you already have Alice Turner's History of Hell, or another similar history of the afterlife in Western culture, this is a good companion volume. It illustrates through literary examples the changing attitudes to and descriptions of Hell. But it's not very deep about the history and the theological changes. The reason WHY these views came about is not well explained, nor is there any explanation of why some faiths persists in them today.

Al realizar mi compra, el artículo decía "Nuevo", pero el que me llegó está en muy malas condiciones. De hecho, no venía empacado con cubierta de plástico, como otro libro de la misma colección que compré hace semanas.
