Hydrometer - Specific Gravity 1.0-2.0 (Heavy Liquid)

I'm pretty lazy. So I bought a hydrometer instead of weighing a fixed amount and using the magic of division to determine specific gravity. Anyway, it's 305mm long, so assuming you are interested in the specific gravity of multiple gallons it should do the trick. The product description could say that though, right? 'cause the whole reason you buy this, is because you're kinda lazy. Right. Well, live and learn.

The hydrometer works as advertised. The best way to test the density of small amounts of liquid (<500 mL) is to pour to liquid into a 100mL graduated cylinder. This gives you the water depth that this hydrometer requires. Don't be tempted to use it as a substitute for a stirrer, though. I made this mistake and cracked the fragile glass after 5 sessions of stirring some viscous synthetic oil I was analyzing.

The glass is super Thin and both units failed On first use Glass became shattered and the liquid leaked Into the hydormeter. The liquid was 140 deg f and may have been thermal shock to the glass.
