Review: Excellent microphone, but mic holder is lousy - I am a big fan of Rode microphones, including this mic, I have four different microphones of Rode company. Two condenser mics and two dynamic mics. I love each of one of these. But this time, the mic holder, which came with Rode M1 mic is very lousy. I can’t believe Rode can do some thing like this. Prefer this mic if your recording environment is noisy, since it support cardioid pickup pattern. There are a couple of things you should note: 1. You cannot plug it directly in your laptop. You'll require an amplifier. I used Rode A1 which costs around 9k. Consider this as part of your budget while buying this mic 2. This mic picks up lot of popping noise from words starting with P, T, M, etc. Invest in a pop filter or cover with a fluffy cloth. Another aspect to factor in your budget 3. There is a small hum(white noise) that gets picked up while recording. It is not a huge problem as it can be removed with Audacity. 4. The mic build quality is awesome. It is built like a tank and is quite heavy.
