A must for solid oak flooring
Installing solid oak flooring is backbreaking work. I just completed my first home remodel install and after watching a lot of DIY videos made the very wise decision to invest in this mallet. I saw a lot of installers using a plastic block and I did purchase one but I found out quickly that this mallet works better and you don't have to get on your knees to use it. It has the weight needed to seat the boards and is perfect for hitting the nail gun. I'd have to say that this was the most important tool in the entire process. It was perfect and more than worth the investment. If you're a DIYer, this is the one to get.

Works great
I bought a lightly used pneumatic Bostich flooring nailer from Craig's List but it was missing the mallet. Bought this one as a replacement. It operates the nailer well and does a good job of driving up the boards (3/4 in white oak) without damaging the board.

Just awesome. This is one of those gems.
I was using a standard floor hammer. One of the reviews on here said that if you’re a DIYer you should pick this hammer. Buddy thank you.Folks this hammer makes installing hardwood flooring Into a completely different exercise. It is the hammer you want to use to install hardwood. I’m using it for glue down installation, and receive me a tremendous amount of work. I can’t recommend it highly enough. It is extremely well weighted, weighs just the right amount so you don’t have to swing hardly at all, and doesn’t mark one bit. The rubber head is excellent and just the right consistency for the work.Don’t hesitate. I’ve used 4-5 flooring hammers and this is a solid option, and the best I’ve ever seen for the price.

Flooring hammer heaviness
Ordered the wrong one. I think I need Tommy John surgery just swinging this thing one time! Extremely heavy for what I needed. Returned it for a lighter one

Very nice mallet. The back is at a steep angle though, it can be tricky to get used to. The inertia from the added weight makes a lot of things easier, and pounding boards and the nailer requires much less force. You basically just need to drop it a few inches to hit a power nailer. Some applications the weight doesn't wear on you as much as you might think it would, but others can get very tiring on the wrist. It goes perfect paired with a lighter mallet.

Best Tool for the Job - Flooring Hammer
I've installed several hardwood floors using a rental hammer and nailer (air assisted). I made the mistake of trying out a dead-blow hammer on one job but that's another story. Don't waste your time. I've invested in a good stapler now, and recently this hammer. It's perfectly designed for the hardwood installation, it has a great feel, and the extra weight in the head helps close gaps. Go with this hammer without any doubts. In my opinion it's the best tool for the job.
