I have purchased two of these shelves and I am quite satisfied. They are well made, easy to assemble and very sturdy. In answer to your question, I do not think they would do well in a warm, humid environment. I would think the moisture from the air would rust the metal and possibly warp the veneer wood. Otherwise, they are an excellent investment for an office, bedroom, living room, etc.
