Beautiful likeness
My grandson loved this although it is a bit heavier and possibly more breakable than I had realized. It is a very nice image of the aspen whale and my grandson loved drawing it and playing with it and a few other whale toys from Amazon.

Pleasantly Surprised On the Quality
I bought this whale for my 5th grader so a book report he presented on the whaleship essex, In the Heart of the Sea. The detail on it is wonderful and it extremely durable (very hard plastic, paint will definitely not come off). It reminds me of the quality of Schleich figure animals.

My 2 year old loves this toy! Beware, it's solid and I got hot a few times with it, not pleasent.

The toy does not survive toddler play
The reason I bought the whale, was to give my grandson some idea of the size of a whale compared to other marine animals. His shark was larger than his other whales. For teaching him proportions, this whale meets the need, it is about 10 1/2 inches long.I wanted to like this toy for my grandson, but unfortunately the fin broke off on the second day he played with it. It is not the most expensive, large-size whale toy, so perhaps, I got what I paid for, but I thought it would be more durable. It is on the heavy side for small children too.

Great toy!
My son loves this whale! It is heavy and well made. The detail is great. The moving mouth is sturdy and has survived a 3 year old playing with it for a few months without any problems. The picture looks light grey. It is MUCH darker than the picture. I would say it is more black than grey.Update: He thought the whale should go down a slide and a pectoral fin broke off. The broken fin could definitely be a choking hazard! I wouldn’t give this toy to kids young enough to choke on small parts. The pectoral fins aren’t part of the solid body mold. Now that I can see how they are attached they seem fairly delicate. Still a great toy for older kids who won’t abuse it. I do wish the fins were part of the solid body mold. His other toy whales don’t have this problem and are pretty indestructible.Deducting one star.
