can you stop the watch then restart for adding minutes?

Yes. That's called "split timing". You can stop and start infinite times for a cumulative total or you can have "splits", timing two laps (or rounds or...) concurrently. For example, I swam two lengths if the pool in :01:37 and my coach hit SPLIT at the end if the first length. When I got out of the pool, I could see that my first length was 45 seconds and my second was 52, for a total of :01:37. Does that help?

Can you disable the BEEP?

the beep is the alarm. you have to press two or three buttons at once to disable it.

What kind of battery does it take and can the owner replace it?

Once the set time is reached is there some kind of audio sound to alert?

This model doesn't have a "countdown" feature. It's a stopwatch only. There's no audio sound on the pro survivor model. Just a good, tactile and audible click from the buttons.

A Good Choice

I forgot I ordered this stopwatch as a Christmas present seven years ago. I just happened to be going over my Amazon history and noticed this purchase. It just happens that yesterday I was admiring a blue stopwatch and thinking how I wanted to buy one, but wanted a reliable one that would last more than a few hours of use. So I was surprise to see that it was a stopwatch I myself had picked out. Well, I agree with my earlier decision. I don't even know how this thing is still functioning perfectly after seven years, but I'll buy this one again, not as a replacement, but I want one for my own use.
