Very sturdy well working device.
Got this last week and am very surprised at how well it works. It takes the corn off the cobb with just a push and twist. It leaves the kernels in the tube to be buttered or placed into individual servings. Cleanup is a breeze also with no hard to reach places. I would recommend this to anyone who takes the kernels off the cobb. It is a true 5 star unit.

Not worth the trouble it takes to use it
This was very disappointing. It was hard to use -- it took a lot of strength to strip a cob -- and it jammed on the third cob I used it on, leaving me unable to open the cylinder to get the stripped corn out. (I have to admit that the first two cobs were stripped very nicely with little mess, but it still took too much effort to use.) I tossed it out and will go back to the old, messy way.

If you can love a tool, this will definitely be one of them.
Prior to getting this tool, I stripped kernels from the cob like most other people do - with a sharp knife. I positioned the cob on a cutting board, put the knife at the top of the cob and forced the knife down the length of the cob with a straight cut. Since this was a straight cut, it would get about 2 whole rows of kernels (if I positioned the knife right, and made a straight cut along the cob), and cut the rows on either side in half not getting the whole kernel. Sometimes it was "whoops, the ear slid on the cutting board" or "whoops, I almost caught my finger" or "whoops, I cut part of the cob with the kernels". There were also at least 4 to 5 cuts per cob, and generally, the juices of the cut kernels shot over the cutting board and onto the counter, not to mention the juices of the corn shooting everywhere. Any of you that have cut corn from the cob with a knife can relate to everything I have said here. Cutting the kernels off with a knife, collecting the kernels from the cutting board, and putting them into a storage bag can take at least 3-5 minutes per cob. With this tool, you put the cob into the cylinder, position the cob under the cutting tool, push down the tool, remove the cutting tool from the cylinder, insert the pusher into the cylinder to eject the empty cob, and pour the corn kernels into your storage bag. The whole process takes less than 30 seconds with no mess. Prior to buying this tool, I read reviews that stated it was good only for medium to large cobs, but I have processed over 8 dozen cobs and haven't come across one that it couldn't handle. Maybe by small, people mean short, but a cob would have to be pretty short for it not to fit. If they mean narrow, the cob would have to be pretty narrow for it not to work. I believe that any normal sized cob will work with this stripper. At any rate, this corn stripper has made my life so much easier, and I no longer dread the job of stripping the kernels from fresh corn. Fresh or blanched and frozen, I will never buy store frozen corn again. There is really no comparison to the corn kernels you make from fresh corn. UPDATE 9/l7/13 I took off 1 star because the plastic tube that holds the corn breaks easily. The second time I used it, it slipped, and part of the top cracked off. A little further into the job, another piece cracked off from the top of the tube. A little further into the job, it wasn't cutting very well, and I noticed the cutting teeth on one side were bent inward. So I straightened it with pliers, and continued. I managed to get through 4 dozen ears, a couple of which had to be cut with a knife because they were too wide at one end. In spite of the problems and the breakage (it's still useable), this tool still shortens the time needed to do the job with a lot less mess (unless my husband is using it). It would be better if it were made with stronger materials, though. For the price, I don't think it lasts very long. UPDATE 06/19//19: I bought the replacement corn stripper for the one I broke 6 years ago, and then bought another just in case I broke the replacement. So far, I haven't had to use the extra one. Every year, we buy 10-12 dozen ears of fresh organic sweet corn that I blanch, strip, and freeze for future meals. This corn stripper has lasted me all this time and still works perfectly. I wouldn't be without it and would never go back to stripping corn with a knife. Since each ear of corn takes a matter of 5 seconds or so to set it up and strip it, I can get a few dozen ears done in an hour and a half or so, and this is counting the blanching and packaging. Granted, depending on the diameter of the cob, it may take more pressure to cut of the kernels, but only wide cobs take more pressure. Most of the cobs strip very quickly. Personally, I would never want to cut kernels from cobs of corn with a knife again. Using this tool is so very much faster and easier. I hope this review was helpful for you. I will update the review if my opinion changes.

Best Corn Peeler Ever
This is the ultimate corn peeler. It is so damn easy it makes me look like a genius in the kitchen which I am definitely not. No matter the size of the ear of corn it works tremendously. Hats off to the people who designed this one.

Fair. Instructions on how to use it would have been nice.
It was difficult to rate a number of stars. The device works reasonably well once you figure it out. You'll have to watch the manufacturer's video, though, as it comes with absolutely no instructions. My biggest confusion arose from the OPEN-CLOSE indications on the bottom cap. It neither opens nor closes, at least on my model, nor does the video show it being taken off in any way. I also find that the teeth on the bottom that are supposed to hold the ear in place frequently fail in performing that task at which point you will find it almost impossible to remove the kernels. America's Test Kitchen recommended this device highly. I cannot concur. Four stars maybe for performance on a good day with appropriately-sized ears, two stars for documentation (and zero for that OPEN-CLOSE business at the bottom!). I'm updating my review: this thing ended up in the trash after my third attempt to use it! I'd give it one star max.

I'll be buying a LOT more fresh corn now!
We love fresh corn but I often have put off cooking it because shucking it is messy. I often cut through some kernels with the knife, they spray all over and it takes an extra dish to catch them in the process anyway before I plate it or else it makes for a messy dinner plate. This gadget is worth every penny! No muss, no fuss and even though multiple pieces to wash, a whole lot easier than chasing corn kernels around the kitchen! UPDATE 6/8/15: I am ordering a new one. We have fresh corn every few days as living in FL there is almost always fresh corn available. The only reason we are buying a new one is the part of the clear plastic where the yellow top goes on broke off. It's still usable but not as well so getting another one. Have had no problems with it. Teeth are still sharp. Yes, large cobs don't fit well. However we get so many whole kernals vs cutting with a knife and losing kernals that fly off or cutting through them. I do wish the bottom threads were reversed as it's easy to turn it the wrong way and then it's hard to get off. I would love if it was made out of Corning glass instead of plastic. No bent teeth like some so wondering if they are using it on raw corn, but no problem with cooked corn.

Not great!
ATK Has NEVER let me down before when it comes to these recommendations. So it kind of pains me say I'm not thrilled with this one. I bought it because it looked easy to use and it contained the corn. I hate the mess I get when using other strippers or with a knife.. It took a few minutes to figure out how it worked. Once I did it worked but honestly as I went and it started to get slippery and it required more and more effort and strength to use. At one point so much pressure was needed I broke off a peace of the plastic casing. It seamed to strip the corn just fine but it depends on the width of the cob and if the cob got to wide at one end it would take bits of the cob with it. Also the pushing and twisting motions needed to operate if you're at all arthritic this would be nearly impossible and painful to use. The cleaning. This was easy to put together and should have been as easy to take a part and clean but once it was slippery with corn milk It was next to impossible to take apart so cleaning was an unexpected challenge. If the manufacturer pays attention to these reviews a few suggestions, 1 make the exterior parts more non-slip and easier to grip it would make it easier to use and clean. 2 The cutter needs to adjust to the changing widths of the cobs. In all. I would not call this a successful first try. And I'm not completely happy with it and not sure I'll ever use it again..
