A Fine Shave.
I have had many pleasant Shaves with my new Remington. It is all I expected from a productOf a company of your reputation and a fair bit more. Ian Laurie, S17 4AF.

Not such a fine shave as the old dual foil shaver
Had a Remington F7800 for eight years until the battery packed up. This new F8 shaver works in a different way with its cutters. The F7800 had vertical cutters directly at right angles under the foil so the closeness of the shave was dictated by the thinness of the foil. Whereas with this F8 model the curved cutter blades are flattened, double edged and cut horizontally side to side under the foil. The result is the width of the foil plus the width of cutter blades, albeit probably microns, does not result in such a smooth shave as the older F7800 type shaver. The foils on the F8 are different too with a different mesh pattern. Its also more difficult to clean the cutters also because the sideways cutters cut the brush. The motor also seems slower compared with F7800 and so a longer shave time also.It cannot be charged directly but only via a mandatory folding stand, which is annoying as its another item to pack when travelling. All previous Remington's, the charge lead plugged directly into the shaver and the stand was optional.Despite all that its well built with clear display of shaving time left and hopefully I'll get used to taking longer to achieve a good shave. Hopefully this will last eight years as well and the cost of replacement cutters and foils don't require a mortgage. Have now purchased the F3 (£20) shaver and although same cutters it has the old style foil its far better shave. I have put the foils from my old F7800 into the new F8 (yes, they fit) and this is now much better.

It is a good quality shaver.
Very good price over the cost of standard wet shaving. First time out a bit rough still, however, you need to grow out a wet shave beard, then use it as it should be used. Perfect finish and smother than a standard wet razor. The Remington F7 is approx £42, the cost comparison over a year:Remington F7 no extra cost.Standard wet razor blades £195.50 on current prices for a5 blade top brand. No contest. Remington wins and you get a smooth shave at no extra cost. Highly recommended, be patient and save quickly. Easy to charge, Very efficient shaving at cheaper cost and just as good as any wet shaver. But this one does both..best of both worlds.

A good all rounder with a couple of foibles
A foil shaver works best for me so I have gone back to one having used rotary for years. Remington has quite a good name and this is a mid-range machine in the Remington portfolio. The shaver foils give a good close shave and pretty quickly hoovers up all the bristles. So far so good. However, the battery could last a bit longer I feel and when putting it on charge you need to double check that it is connected otherwise you could come back an hour later to find that it has just been sitting there without getting on with the job. The foil protection cover comes off far too easily. That is a design fault. The shaver comes with a cleaning brush but do not let the brush go anywhere near the foil. It will ruin it I promise you and the temptation is great because the bristles collect at the ends. To clean the cutting heads etc no doubt Remington will have a cleaning fluid costing a small fortune for a few milliliters but I knock out most of the debris and give the heads a couple of squirts of 99% isopropyl alcohol. You can buy a litre of the stuff on line for less than £10 and can use it for 101 other jobs such as giving a squeaky clean finish to your camera or phone, computer, CDs, torch lens, the windows of your house etc. I am told it is also good for cleaning delicate equipment such as electronics but I have not tried that.

Hardly enough power for a decent shave from full charge
I wanted to like this shaver because I have used Remmingtons for more years than I'm prepared to admit. This one is just really dissapointing. Possibly I just got a bad one. From full charge it feels like it has barely enough power for a decent shave. When the display gets to 40 mins remaining, it drops to 30 within a minute then to Low a minute later. It is supposed to give 1 hour shaving. It says that the 2 cutter and 2 foil head makes shaving quicker. Possibly because of the lack of power my experience is that it takes longer. The head is too big so it doesn't fit the contours of your face like the 2 foil 1 cutter heads. This was a bad purchase and would make me think twice about buying a premium Remmington again.

Fast and close, and the right price
A*. Well done Remington! This is a reasonably priced razor (£49.99 here on Amazon) which shaves both fast and close. But that's not all; the travel of the foil over the skin is really smooth, which was a welcome novelty. The build quality is excellent and it just looks great too, not to mention the nice digital battery display. This is a top quality product, excellent on all the important points. I could deduct half a star for the stand and the way the charging cable protudes from the side (it sticks out a long way, see picture), but hey, at least it's got a stand (many don't), and it's a folding stand too if you happen to need that feature. But these are minor points - this quality as this price deserves the full 5 stars.
