Special Easter treat cake mold
My mother always made a lamb cake for Easter. I was surprised to see that they are still made today. It comes with a recipe for a chocolate cake. I made it as a practice run and it's just as I remembered. My grandkids are coming for Easter, and my son asked if I could make one. He remembers helping my mom decorate the lamb! I strongly recommend getting this mold. The directions are included in the box. Make sure to grease and flour the mold - top and bottom.

German Easter Lamb Cake Mold
I have used to mold to make several lamb cakes. They all came out of the mold very nicely after spraying well as directed. The cake had a nice flavor from the recipe provided by Noric. I will be making as EAster presents for family and friends and church.

Works well
My great aunt always made lamb cake for Easter. I decided to make it now that she's no longer around. The cake mold worked fine. You just lay it on its side. You fill the bottom half. The top (one with the steam hole) goes facing up. I recommend following directions for bundt cake if you're using a box mix. It comes with directions and recipe of you want to try from scratch.

So Easy - With the Right Recipe!
This pan was wonderful! It did everything I hoped it might - baked a perfect 3D lamb cake. The cake was baked through completely and evenly, the pan was easy to prepare and to clean by hand afterward, and it stores neatly with my other cake pans. I did a lot of reading before attempting the feat since this was my first attempt using this 3D pan. Covering every nook and cranny with vats of BAK-RS J-Y spray, opting for a homemade and sturdy buttermilk pound cake recipe and using string to tie the pan halves snugly together during baking helped a lot, but it was no less important to allow the cake to rest and cool before removing the back pan. Rest and cool before removing the front. And adding wooden skewers to the cake batter before baking in a crisscross pattern to stabilize the head and ears ensured I wouldn't end up with a little lopsided lamb. I did trim the minimal pan seam along the base just a little so the cake could stand upright, but because I had to transport it, I opted to lay the completed cake on a soft bed of Peeps then garnish it with plenty of edible grass. I was pleased with the quality of the pan and with the speediness of the delivery. Oh - it arrived in a padded bag, not a box, so I was concerned., but there were no problems with damage en route. I would - and probably will - buy this again as a gift and so I can make a flock of buttermilk and chocolate lamb cakes!

Perfect Lamb Cake for Easter!
This couldn't have been easier to use!#1 Tip: HAND WASH ONLY, and dry immediately. This is aluminum and WILL discolor in the dishwasher.I used Crisco liberally inside the mold, using my fingers to fill in the crevices. I then floured the inside.A pound cake works well with this mold. You only need to fill the front of the lamb with the batter, all the way to the top. I placed a few toothpicks along the ears, pushing them into the batter slightly. This can add support to that fragile area once baked. Place the back half on top of the filled front half and bake as directed. You can test for doneness through the steam vent in the back.Remove the back half once baked and allow to cool in the mold for about 10 minutes. CAREFULLY (with hot mitts) flip the lamb out of the front mold and allow to cool completely on a rack.DO NOT ATTEMPT TO ICE WHILE WARM. You'll have a goopy lamb. We opted to pipe buttercream all over for a fluffy wool look and it came out beautifully.Tip for the Face: Make a glaze of powdered sugar and water. Glaze should be very thick, like pancake batter. Lay lamb face up and pour the glaze all over its face and ears. Let set before frosting the body. This gives the lamb a more realistic face. Use a straw to poke holes for the eyes and a toothpick to scratch out a nose and mouth if desired. This won't fit in a standard cake holder with lid. It will need to be at least 8 inches high and over 12 inches wide for it to fit without crushing the frosted lamb.

Easy to use with the directions
I bought this to make a fail lamb cake but it turned out so well, I made a cute lamb cake! I used a box cake mix but only put in 3 cups of the cake batter into the bottom half. It is very important to grease and flour the pan first. I am not sure I will try this again as I nearly got carpal tunnel from piping the fur on! The first draft of the lamb cake ended in a disaster because I did not cook it long enough. His neck fell off. Round 2 went much better until he fell over backwards and sheared his fur off his back and side. Make sure you use good icing to lock this puppy into place. It is a good idea not to frost this guy in a hot kitchen. Mistakes were made but he was salvaged in the end! Next time I am going to use red velvet cake mix. That will make for great conversation at a party!

Good enough
I ordered this in middle of march , what I thought was the lamb molds my grandmother used to use. I was wrong it is a cake and the lamb lays down on one side. I was looking for the one that sits upward. It is good enough if you want a cake. The head on this is small for how big the body is so you gotta be careful.
