A Real Eye-Opener!
i 'knew' about the spirit of Jezebel because we've run up against it a time or two in the church, but i didn't UNDERSTAND it because i'd never heard anyone really talk about it. for instance, i didn't know that the Jezebel spirit could control men as well as women. duh! i just hadn't thought of it in that way. but it's not like demonic spirits are very discerning...if you're open, they see you as available and bam! i also 'knew' about the Ahab spirit as one of my husband's relatives could have written a book on that subject. but it's taken this book to open my eyes to and realize the difference between a strong, spirited (and Holy Ghost led) person and the Jezebel spirit operating in someone.this is a book i highly recommend to all pastors and lay people who have to deal with controlling spirits on a daily basis. i believe it will help them to understand the spirit, how to pray about it, and how to help someone who has come under its influence.written in plain English so it's easy to understand and follow, i doubt my world will ever be quite the same for having read it. i have a much clearer insight into how both the Jezebel and Ahab spirits work and the commitment it takes to defeat them both. i wish all of my family and friends had this book in their libraries.i know writing this book couldn't have been easy for Mr Samson. the spiritual battles he must have fought to bring this out in the open were probably knee-bending. so, thank you so very much, Mr Samson, for your dedication and commitment to the body of Christ and your willingness to bear any attack to see this through. God bless you!

Real Life, Real Explanations
I purchased this book, suggested by a clinical psychologist in a church we visited, after going through an agonizing three plus year ongoing ordeal with someone who fits the characteristics described in this book. You can look at it from two perspectives: the spiritual one, and the control aspect (borderline personality disorder). Either way, I was enlightened to this type of personality, the characteristics of this kind of person, and how they think. This book, although Christian, expanded my understanding into the secular arena enough to relate to my experiences. It explained to me why I was targeted by this person, explained her actions, and furthermore, provided suggestions on how to avoid this type of person, and many of the conflicts they generate. The chapter "Characteristics of a Jezebel" was particularly helpful in assessing this type of personality. Once you have read this, if you have had the unfortunate experience of this type of this person, you will immediately get chills down your spine. While "Unmasking the Jezebel Spirit" (Jackson) is more highly rated, Sampson's treatise is far more relevant to real life situations outside the church. Jackson's book is more targeted at pastors and church leaders. Sampson's book is essential reading for anyone facing a controlling, evil driven personality in their lives. It will open your eyes.

Deliverance of (and from) Jezebel Spirit
Early in the book, CONFRONTING JEZEBEL: DISCERNING AND DEFEATING THE SPIRIT OF CONTROL, author Steve Sampson states, "God is exposing and judging the spirit of Jezebel in the Church. Hallelujah" (p. 23). That is only part of what God is doing; He is exposing and judging the spirit of Jezebel through strengthening and sharpening the discernment of his chosen ones, who live constantly in the prophetic flow of His Spirit, and who follow Him with uncompromising obedience, that His will be done on earth as it is in heaven.Sampson does a fair job of developing his topic, confronting Jezebel, both in ourselves and others and does a good job of describing what the Jezebel spirit is like, how it manifests itself. For a more thorough presentation of the etiology (roots) of Jezebel, I recommend Juanita Bynum's book, My Spiritual Inheritance, and more specifically, her chapter on, "The Seduction of Jezebel." Bynum herself recommends Jezebel Vs. Elijah: The Great End Time Clash, by Bree Keyton, a book I have not read yet, but plan to soon, such is my level of respect for Bynum's treatment of the subject.I appreciate, perhaps most of all, Sampson's chapter, "You Can Live Higher," about how ardently God wishes to take us above the natural to live in the Spirit, feeding us daily with His Word, Himself. This is the very thing Jezebel opposes. In this chapter Sampson talks of the baptism in the Holy Spirit with the evidence of speaking in tongues and gifts of the Spirit as a threshold, a beginning of choosing to follow the Spirit, yielding ourselves, following God's voice, and letting Him work in our lives. He points out that praying in the Spirit (in tongues) takes us beyond the reach of the flesh, itself a stronghold of Satan through the Jezebel spirit.Jezebel is a spirit that does not yield to being rebuked. Sampson claims this is because it operates on illegitimate authority, entrenched in the flesh (as works of witchcraft) through stubbornness and habits of demonic thought. Deliverance comes when the person under influence of Jezebel repents and yields their flesh to being crucified daily by God through the Holy Spirit. Bynum, on the other hand, presents that Jezebel is not the root, but is a decoy, operating under legitimate authority, yielded to her, and because of that is not subject to being rebuked; dealing with Jezebel, deliverance from her most destructive capability, comes through uncompromising obedience to God and to God alone. It is sad that Sampson observes, "Honestly, in my years of ministry, I have rarely seen a true Jezebel delivered. Sometimes she becomes temporarily remorseful, but soon she'll go back to her controlling tactics" (p. 21). It makes sense that God would remove all stops in order to deliver those who are being destroyed by Jezebel, if not those directly controlled by her (who may be beyond deliverance, if of a reprobate mind, for example) then certainly those being dominated, intimidated, emasculated by her (something she does so well). Even as Jehu called upon the eunuchs (those castrated by Jezebel) to throw Jezebel down and kill her through defenestration (throwing out of a window), so today God is calling upon those victimized by this most evil spirit to obey Him and cast out, cast down, Jezebel, including in our very midst. The scriptural description of the total destruction of Jezebel should be a sobering lesson, worthy of meditation and prayer as we prepare for each day's spiritual battles. Because this spirit is a master at morphing, hiding under cloak of holiness, getting others to do its dirty work, and much, much more, it requires our greatest vigilance to deal with it in all its manifestations. I am so excited and rejoice to see God preparing his faithful ones for just such a work in these days prophesied about from old.Hallelujah! What a Savior!I have so much more to write about the understanding that God is developing in me about the Jezebel spirit, truths I have not yet seen addressed by other authors, more than I can include in this review, and therefore, may have to write a separate book about same, it is that important of a matter. I plan to keep reading on the subject, in any event. In succinct words, Sampson advises, "The safest and wisest way to live is to keep our focus on God and desire to please Him. He will not fail us" (p. 123), which about sums up how to confront Jezebel, both in ourselves, and in others.Sampson's book is a worthwhile introduction to the topic of Jezebel spirit, but don't stop there: read more, and arm yourself for spiritual warfare, which is heating up.
