The Death Ray

I feel it works better than Patience. That was outsiders-misanthropes but was for too long concentrated on a traditional, determined person adn with sci-fi and trippy elements that dont really work.Death Ray is smart all the way through with no let up for "adventure", which is only seen in the superhero pastiche panels. Clowes does a brilliant job of bringing traditional comic tropes into his own storytelling style.Every time I read this, more comes out of the page.

I'm a bit of a fan of Daniel Clowes' catalogue of works and Death-Ray is as enjoyable as the rest of his books. A typical mix of humdrum reality mixed with fantastical elements, The Death-Ray tells the tale of a potential superhero and his battle with self and society and nicotine addiction. A worthy read if you're a fan like me.
