Bosch Corded Electric Jigsaw

Received the product few weeks back with below average packing. its pendulum function was not working properly. I took the product to the authorized Service Center of Bosch to check the pendulum setting since I did not want to return the same since I had returned one piece of some other reputed brand earlier. Service center people also failed to fix the problem raised by me. Splinter guard is not provided with the machine and it was not available with Service Center also. I think some time my jigsaw divert the marked line due to non-inclusion of splinter guard/Shoe. I used the jigsaw on two occasions to build a cabinet and to do some other work also. It is okay for cutting plywood but I do not think it will easily cut thicker wood as claimed in their brochure. I had a tough time while cutting the 36 mm plywood. I even changed the blade . It badly damaged my guide while cutting 18 mm ply. Actually, GST 700 is a very good jigsaw and selected the product after verifying the same @ YouTube and website of Bosch. I do not know why we are facing problems in India. . It seems that the supplier is providing refurbished tools. Quality departments certification / certification sticker is not mentioned anywhere on the product.Bosch should take care of their products sold/selling in India.

Bosch brand is sufficient enough to buy their products which provides value for money beyond doubt. This is a seriously useful tool DIY project enthusiasts & professionals & it also seriously good at its job. My main apprehension was will it be useful for wood more than 70mm width, after is tested it hands on, I assure u, this does better than expected! it just runs through any block of wood as if its a block of butter. 500W sounds slightly low compared to other products in this range, but all of it is used efficiently to deliver the best tool to do detailed wood work. Haven't tried on metal. Only down side I observed was the location of speed control, could have been at the head! Over all , It's a sturdy piece of carpenter tool which checks into my must have ones.

Able to cut plywood with ease but requires a guide to get a straight cut as its not heavy and tends to move little bit while cutting long straight cuts. For smaller cuts without guide easy to make straight cuts. It will be good if it comes with a parallel/ circular guide.Another good thing is easy switching of blade. You just need to pull the holder up and insert the t-shank blade.Glass cover on the front helps in making downwards so that we have clear view for cutting.Dust collector slot works but not so great, while cutting the dust comes out and as the machine moves it collects the dust. But expected it to collect as it cuts. Also if you increase the speed the efficiency of dust collection reduces. I am using the bosch GAS 15 ps vacuum cleaner for dust collection.Overall decent cutter but has scope for improvements.
