A Really Good Mouse
The Macally USB wired Mouse for my windows PC worked directly out of the box with no required special software to download because of the Plug & Play feature. The mouse is comfortable and works very well and the price was fair market based in my opinion. The shipping was extremely fast.

tracking my progress
I am not very familiar with Macs, but I have had quite a few mice for Windows machines. This mouse doesn't even compare with my Logitech gaming mouse, but it isn't supposed to. It works great on my MacBook Air with 1 exception. The speed setting in the Mac's system properties doesn't allow you to go warp speed! My Logitech is set to 6400 DPI - which means my cursor zooms across the screen. The cursor on the Mac is moving at about half the speed. I didn't get the Mac for gaming purposes, so I guess it's fine. It may be slower than I am used to, but it beats the heck out of having to rely solely on the trackpad. :) I guess what my Logitech has that this mouse doesn't is its own settings application. Perhaps this mouse could use a more customizable application to speed things up. Still, I am happy with it as it is. I'd purchase another one once this one wears out.

Nice, wider feel; bumpy scroll wheel
This is a nice wired mouse, but not nearly as nice to use as the wireless Bluetooth Apple mouse, which I have decided to abandon because it won't hold its Bluetooth connection. I compared this one, MacAlly's Xmouse, with the same company's Icemouse 3, and then returned the second one. Points of comparison: The Xmouse is wider in the hand and rises higher at the back for a more comfortable grip. The Icemouse3 has a thinner midsection which makes my hand feel like it will cramp after holding it too long. The Xmouse's scroll wheel has a bumpier action than the Icemouse3's. The former's scroll wheel looks like a little model car's tire, with tread wrapping around its edge. The Icemouse3 has smaller treads in the center and surrounding plastic rims on the wheel. The Icemouse3 wheel also has objectionable side-to-side (axial) play. I prefer the greater tactile feedback of the Xmouse's wheel. I used a digital caliper to confirm the numerical measurements for both mice as shown in the pictures; the fact that the reference lines off to the sides are not in fact in the same scale as the images turns out not to mean anything. Both mice make a clicking sound: the Xmouse is louder. Both mice are noticeably lighter than the Apple Bluetooth mouse, because they don't hold batteries. Getting one of these wired, scroll-wheel mice is a return to the days of yesteryear, and that's not too good. But they are both sturdy, aesthetically pleasing, useful mice that will stay connected(!). The wire itself is no particular bother, and its 5-foot length makes it suitable for a wide range of computers. Hats off to MacAlly for making several similar mice, any one of which would probably be a fine choice.

Solidly adequate
Nothing special, EXCEPT that it does what I need it to do reliably and dependably. It's rather cheap-feeling, too light, and I didn't like the feel at first although I've grown accustomed to it. I was having radio problems with my wireless mice and my old wired "Mighty Mouse" (Apple mouse, 2005-2009) with the "scroll ball" just kept getting balky because it's old. So the Macally mouse does the trick--it's wired, so no radio-control issues, and it has a large wheel, so no problems keeping it clean. I shouldn't complain. This was about the fifth mouse I tried and I kinda ended up with it by default. Upshot? Good for the price, and it works, which is a big plus I guess. Amazon asked me to rate the product for "sheerness" and I have no idea what that means, so I left it blank.
