Hi, Dylan! The tips are made from Tungsten, with the replaceable rubber attachment included. The grips are made from EVA foam. Cork is a bit sensitive, and chips over time. We found that EVA foam is tougher, and lasts longer.

While it's ideal that your Montem Trekking Poles work in unison, they're not tied to a specific side. In short, yes, you can split the pair between you and a partner if you'd like (it's not a left or right kinda thing).

Fully collapsed, they are 24 inches. These hiking poles should fit in a standard size suitcase.

Yes. I use them with the rubber tips on streets quite frequently, and remove the rubber to use them with the spikes on icy streets. They shrink down quickly for me to put in a big handbag when I reach a store, etc. I take them with me on holiday - they even make wandering around museums less tiring for me.
