Athalon Everything Boot Bag/Backpack

Awesome bag! Totally worth it ($45). Great build, durable, and can hold a ton of stuff. I was able to pack my ski boots on either side and my helmet with my ski gear in the middle compartment (gloves, goggles, beanie, neck wrap, thermals, balaclava mask, ski boot holder, ski boot warmers, ski holder, Camelbak, etc). The total weight was 22lbs. The backpack straps can be zipped up into a compartment, making checking this bag in a breeze (the bag can be checked in with another bag (my ski bag) as 'sports equipment' and the total weight of both items must be under 50lbs (Delta airlines' policy). The bag didn't seem too bulky and was easy to carry. The only small issue is that the sides of the bag didn't seem too sturdy/padded so I wrapped my boots in fleece pullovers just to be safe. It probably woud've been fine. But, I just wanted to be safe. I purchased the Select Sportbags wheeled double ski bag ($95) and with one pair of skis, ski poles, ski jacket (wrapping the skis) and ski pants (wrapping the poles), snow boots, and sandals, the ski bag only weighed 25lbs. Overall, this bag is a great buy, worth the money, and I would definitely recommend it. I would even say I would buy it again. But, I don't see this bag breaking anytime soon.

Great quality. Fits more than you would think.

As someone who has always schlepped ski gear in tote bags, this bag is a dream! It is everything I wanted out of a ski bag and has a beautiful print to boot!How much gear does it hold? I wear a size 27.5 boot and they fit in the side pockets, no problem. In the main compartment, I can fit two extra pullovers, water bottle, small insulated lunch bag, a gallon ziplock of snacks (teenagers!), three pairs of gloves, helmet, goggles, and balaclavas. The small outer zip compartments are roomier than they look and hold snacks. The outer top zippered compartment holds sunglasses and my replacement goggle lenses. The bungee strap holds my bowtie ski strap once I get to the lodge.Convenient features: The handles are in perfect spots for picking up and moving the bag or hanging on the wall hooks at the lodge. There are three clips for keys that are very easy to get to inside each compartment. The plastic bottom appears very sturdy and shows no wear after three months skiing nearly every weekend. The drains have been great to provide ventilation, though I do open up the compartments when I get home to air things out thoroughly. It's always packed and ready to go which makes getting out the door each Saturday a breeze!Carrying: Even loaded with all that gear in it, it carries really well, you don't feel the weight and the padded straps are nicely curved. The back padding also helps make it comfortable to carry. Even carrying in one hand, it's not cumbersome and well balanced.I would absolutely buy this again and two friends have bought one after seeing mine!

This is the fourth one I have bought of this same bag over the last ~10 years.l for the family. Great design very roomy for ski boots, helmet, gloves and accessories, even a stuffed coat. Pockets are in the right places.On one of these bags the backstrap broke, and there’s a big hole now duck taped in the corner bottom probably from checking it as airline luggage, and another one wore out, so long term durability is questionable. This is a replacement of the same bag because overall I’m very happy with it and would buy it again as long as the price is reasonable. This new one was just checked in as airline luggage and came back in great shape.

Colorful ski bag. Well made with plenty of room for boots, helmet, mittens, extra clothes. Extra pockets for phone, hand warmers, snacks and rings for keys, in addition to vents in boot storage compartments. Great price!!

This simple, well-designed survived its first winter in good shape! I like its center grand attic and side boot pockets + small side pockets as well as front and back top pockets. And, the shoulder straps disappear into one pocket, so the bag doesn't disappear into any conveyor belt.4 stars for now; 5 if it lasts 5 years!

2022 Update: I just bought my 4th bag. The previous 3 purchases were my sons, mine and 1 for my wife. All have performed excellent. I'm replacing the same bag that lasted 12 years and frankly that one is still serviceable except for a couple small holes at the seams at the bottom of the boot storage area which I could probably easily fix and I'll give it to my daughter. The new bag does have a chemical smell and I'll return the bag if it doesn't resolve in a few days.We bought this for my teenage son for carrying his ski boots, helmet, ski pants and ski clothing etc. The bag is perfectly sized for this. For anyone familiar with Transpack bags, this Athalon bag is very similar, and although slightly different shape, it seems to have the same capacity. I would say this Athalon bag is a step up in quality from Transpack and even my teenage son noticed the high quality.I would highly recommend this bag and I might even buy one for myself :)2/5/11 EDIT: I was so pleased with the quality and capacity of my sons Athalon Everything Boot bag, I got one for myself. Without problem it holds ski boots, ski pants, long underwear, sweat pants, two shirts, sweat shirt, ski sox, a pair of shoes and my helmet. There are extra pockets to hold more. The shoulder straps are very comfortable and there is padding between your back and pack.1/22/13 EDIT: I've lugged this bag to and from the mountain close to 50 times and the bag is still in excellent condition. Very pleased with my purchase.

This is the “mom purse” of ski bags and exactly what I was looking for. It has held up well over the last few months and I can easily fit everything I need with room to spare.Usually is packed with:-adult boots, helmet, googles-snow pants, gloves, face mask and extra layers (just in case).-Lunch bagAnd I STILL have additional room if needed.
