The Spooltek lure is a paddle tail lure with a coil of cable/wire leader in the head that when a fish strikes the hook pulls out a short length of wire separating the lure from the hook. This minimizes the ability for the fish to throw the hook off. No weight, no leverage.They come 4'', 6", and 9" sizes. I've only own the 6'' and 9''. I am purchasing the 4'' today, I like the idea of being able to throw this even sallower. The head is a hard plastic with a replaceable soft plastic tail. It comes assembled with head and tail attached with a spare tail of the same color. This concept allows the bait to be reusable and last a long while. It cast very well and It runs true. It works as well as any other swimbaits. To reset the leader & hook there is a small knurled plastic knob that you turn to wind the leader back into the lure head and then the hook sort of snaps in place. I have lost a few tails, but good thing the give me a replacement and spare tails can be purchased in packs of 3 for an additional $5.99. Your hook up and landing fish ratio will increase. And after catching a few fish, this bait is basically free. In the end you will save money. Its a win win.
