Consistantly good
I've had a set of 3 that have worked well for years. Well built and simplistic design. Good finish, can touch up or add whatever color to best fit where you live. Ordered another set of 3. Arrived ahead of expected delivery date.

Perfect audible perimeter alarm!
Using green power level 22 blanks and it works great. Being that the shell is inserted facing down, they are rain resistant as well. A little pricey, but durable and effective. Tie a loop and attach to swivel trigger and it will turn and pull off when tripped. Perfect audible perimeter alarm!

Useful now after mods and adds
I bought 4 in Jan 18 to protect against thieves at a remote farm site. Like a couple of others, I had to drill a hole in the bottom plate to allow using a wire rod to push the spent cartridge out. I wanted to be able to also deter dogs, cats, rats, and wasps in some areas where a trip wire is not practical. I ended up with a setup shown in the photo where I'm using a 110V Uxell solenoid with 15mm stroke and 14.7N force pull. It's connected to a modified motion detector night flood light so when motion is detected in the location I'm aiming the detector at, it will turn a flood light on and also trigger the actuator which pulls the Sentry Alarm to fire the .22 cal. Since the minimum time that the light stays on is a minute, I put a light switch that is also pulled and turns off power to the solenoid. I can also adjust the sensitivity for the detection "trigger". Stopped the pests! Except when I went on vacation for a couple of weeks, saw a couple of animals back on my security camera.

Fun with bears
I had a bear that was raiding my trash enclosure every night. I put these up and the bear set them off once and never returned. They are easy to hide, easy to set, and work exactly as advertised. My only complaint is that you are limited to #2 power loads (brown box). That requirement is very plainly stated in the directions, but not in the Amazon ad. Like an idiot, without reading the directions, I bought the loudest .22 power loads I could find (#5 red box) and had to spent the next hour trying to dig the exploded cartridge out of the alarm. Then I bought the #2 brown box as directed. They are a little quieter, but the cartridge doesn't expand, and they can be easily flipped out of the device after firing. If you buy these, splurge and also buy purpose-made kevlar tripwire; it works much better than cords that stretch, and it is easier to hide.

Effective
Use only brown loads or they will jam and be a lot of work to get out. I tried yellow first because the were cheaper.

Black Bear Problems
I used this to scare away a Black Bear that would haul off my trash can every night. He has only came back 3-4 times in the last year so it worked.
