The Berkley FireLine Ultra 8 Superline was developed by Berkley scientists as a thermally fused strong 8-carrier Dyneema PE fiber braid. This line is one of Berkley's most durable lines to date. The fused 8-carriers make up a tough line that is 4 times more resistant to abrasions than the normal FireLine. Rounder and smoother, the FireLine Ultra 8 delivers longer casts than ever before.

Accurate measurement of diameter is larger than published diameter
I haven't fished with this line yet, and I will update my review as soon as I get some use out of the line. BUT... I wanted to update people with an initial review since there are no real reviews of this line yet AND inform people of a major marketing deception by Berkley on this line. The Fireline Ultra 8 Carrier 30# test line is published at .015" (.38mm) and equivalent to 12# test mono.I didn't get near the amount of line on my reel that I should have (according to Berkley's published numbers), so I measured the line diameter. I happen to own a machine shop so I have the means to make very small, accurate measurements. Surprise!!! The actual line diameter of the Fireline Ultra 8, 30# test is AT BEST .016" (thats with a firm squeeze on the line while measuring the diameter). That makes the Carrier 8 equivalent to Trilene XL 20# test (according to Berkley's website). At $40 for 300yrd a spool, of which I purchased 2 of them, I wasted a large amount of left over line (approx. 100 yrds each spool) that wont fit my reels because the line is SO much larger than the published diameter. I should have been able to put 320 yards of line on each of the two reels I was spooling. I would accept and/or even expect a small amount of "left over" line, but 1/3rd of the spool??? Thats a lot of waste for such an expensive line. For the good... the line is slick, round & smooth. I also like that the line is fairly stiff, at least while new. I like the qualities of the line so far. The crystal color looks darn near like white colored monofilament. So, in conclusion, be aware that this line is much larger in diameter than published (at least in the 30# size). Don't buy too much line as you may only use ⅔ of a spool. The anti-abrasion qualities of the line, knot strength, castability and such is yet to be determined.

Best stuff for beading with crystals
This stuff is great for weaving on a loom or in hand when you're working with crystals -- they have sharp edges around the holes and tend to cut through other threads. I had to re-build a necklace that I wove with a mixture of seed beads and crystals and it worked great. I'd use a lighter weight of Fire Line if you have a light-weight project and want it to drape smoothly. Smoke color goes with any color bead.

It's perfect for beading
The price was right and the Berkley fishing line is great for doing individual beading for bracelets, etc. I always shop for bigger spools in crystal or black and your price was the best.

Great for bead work
I use mostly use fireline for all my fine bead work. It’s cheaper from fishing stores in bulk than bead stores.

Best fishing line I've ever used
I normally use light gear with 4lb-6lb Fireline. This is the strongest line I've ever used for something so thin and castable. No memory unless left on a reel for a very long time. Allows me to throw my 1/16 to 1/8 oz spinners and spinnerbaits with ease. ZERO stretch so you feel every little bump and wobble while reeling in and get instant, firm hook sets. My landed fish often outweigh the strength of the line ( I've caught dozens of 5+ lb bass on 4 lb test and I've landed trout and salmon that were 2-3 times the weight of the line rating. I even landed a 38" northern pike in heavy lily pads with smoke gray 6 lb Fireline!

Excellent line!
This is amazing line. I've had been using fireline and other braided/hybrid lines for over 10 years. The casting properties outperforms fireline. I used an under spooled spinning reel and I was getting the same distances I would with other lines, fully loaded. When I loaded it closer to full I was able to toss weightless bait (salmon eggs) almost 30 feet. you don't know how significant this is! Great stuff.

Import charges should reflect the value
Beware the advert states that import duty is likely to be £3.93 I have had to pay £12.80. I could understand a small difference but this is ridiculous. Item as expected and arrived 8n time scale

Different but better
Using this for beadweaving and finding it easier to manage than what I've purchased in 55yd spools. This line IS braided but it seems smoother and less resistant to separating. Only reason I gave this 4 stars is because its more expensive than if ordered online from Bass Pro, if you can stand the wait (I waited for over 6 weeks and still never received my order from Bass Pro) and can get to the store to pick up. I purchased both crystal and black but have not yet tried the black (to see if the colour rubs off).

Great for seed bead weaving!
I don't fish but I do a lot of seed bead weaving and embroidery and this is the best for this task...strong, easy to use and doesn't tangle. More economical to buy it in this large spool as opposed to buying the small spools!
