What's the width of the blade at the widest point?

This blade is made from a thin piece of stamped steel just slightly over 1/16" thick and 2 5/16" at its widest point.

I don't know how much it weighs but it's a great machete. The steel holds a good edge and the length gives a good swing path. I have several of these.

What type of steel is this made of?

Carbon steel, just as it should be. Super tough, doesn't bend (it's flexible but snaps back like spring steel), and easy to sharpen. This is a tool that is intended to be used, not some toy from the local box store. If you don't like rust, spray it down with wd-40 or similar when done using it, or simply don't worry about it and let it build a patina. I nailed some rocks with mine while trimming close to the ground, and I was surprised how well the edge held. It only took a minute or two to work it back into a razor sharp edge (thank you carbon steel).
