Aretha v the drum machine!
With the exception of "Sisters Are Doin' It for Themselves" (with Eurythmics) this is not Aretha's most memorable album. However, it was indeed a comeback album and Aretha's voice still shines. Producer and singer Narada Michael Walden aimed the album at the dance-pop genre. There are times when the monotonous 4/4 synth drum sound gets quite boring. The album (sort of) works and as such is complete. However, the out-takes and remastering that make up the expanded edition are not at all necessary.
