does PL Premium 8X tolerate high heat like a fireplace trim ?

probably not, I would suggest using a product specifically designed for fireplaces. Dap makes a few types.

No its not, it's the same color at liquid nails or panel adhesive

It says on the tube "12 months shelf life" where is the expiration date?

12 months is the shelf life. The year manufactured is on the tube.
