Capture Ionic Smokeless Ashtray Generation III

This unit DOES work to remove smoke. But unless I cleaned it every other day, it became quite gunky...to the point that eventually, the plastic hinge piece simply broke in two. Perhaps the whole unit should be made out of metal.

Product is VERY flimsy- small parts fall off very easily. I am on my 4th one. One of the ashtrays that I ordered, apparently, was defective - automatically shut off after a short period of use whether using the batteries or the plug in.- the base plate where the ashtray rests was hot. Why do I keep ordering these? Only because the sound is so quiet while most "smokeless" ashtrays are noisy.

No good if you are a heavy smoker. Threw it away.

The ashtray does eliminate much of the odor and captures most of the smoke. It's only when you clean it that you realize just how much nicotine is captured that could be in your lungs and on your walls. That said, cleaning the ashtray is a chore but a necessary one if you want the product to work efficiently. It is quite expensive though but all things considered, worth it.

I just got two more of these ashtrays after using one for a while. It works as advertized, capturing the smoke that leaves a cigarette that is placed in the ashtray. One aspect of it to keep in mind is that it works best if the cigarette is not placed right at the front of the unit -- better when it's at one of the sides.Noiseless! Big plus. And I don't understand the complaints about having to clean it. Of course you do -- it captures the smoke after all. With some alcohol in a spray bottle and soft rags, it's not arduous. Have to remember to recharge/replace batteries, but that's the nature of such devices.

It works great !! But it's cheaply made and falls apart !! I was extremely careful when cleaning it, but it still came apart at the back hinge. Bought a second one, and that lasted even less time than the first one !! The back hinge area should be made of metal, instead of cheapy plastic.

It does not appear to work and I cannot see that it is absorbing the smoke. Because of the cost of this astray I really thought it would work.

This has been a real pain in my side. I bought the Capture Ionic Smokeless Ashtray Generation III, used it for a month or so. After cleaning it the first time, it didn't work at all. I called to see what I could do, and they explained how to clean it, and I did just that, but to no avail. I sent it back to repair, and they repaired it and returned it to me. IT worked again for a couple of weeks, then stopped working, and again had to send it back. I asked what was wrong, they said a part needed to be replaced in it. After the third time of having to send it back, I bought a second one, so that I would be covered when it was in for repair. Then the second one started doing the exact same thing. These people apparently got tired of repairing it, so they said from now on i had to pay $35 for repair. The thing only costs $40. When they refused to answer their phone or emails, I reported them to the BBB (Better Business Bureau). We went back and forth with the BBB, but they wouldn't budge. This was with Talon Development Corporation. Now they will over cover repairs for 90 days. So if you buy this ashtray be aware it tends to breakdown all the time, especially after cleaning. If you are aware they will only repair it for 90 days, then go for it and buy it. When it's working, it's great. Oh also be aware, it could take them 90 days just to repair it. I would have to call, and write emails and if i was lucky i might get a call back after weeks of hounding them. The do NOT answer their phones ever. Not even during regular business hours. (OR MAYBE THEY WERE JUST NOT ANSWERING MY CALLS). Try calling and see if you get an answer? Either way it was definitely NOT WORTH IT to me. Now i have to go through the aggravation of taking them to court to get my money back on a defective product.
