Q: What size are the planters please?

I gave this as a gift, but, if my memory serves me -- each herb was to be planted in a container about 3 x 3 inches square.

Q: What are the pots made out of?

They are white molded plastic with a tray attached.

Q: can these be grown outdoors?

After they have sprouted and have some growth on them, they should be able to be transferred to an outside garden. Check online for how the particular plant does outside and how much sun it needs. I know Basil can do well in warmer climates, but needs to be indoors during a cooler season or climate.

Q: The soil is molding on top - is this normal?

NO. The “soil” is ground up coco hulls It’s sterile to start. I wrote review for husband. Come to find out the tomatoes coming up we’re not part of the kit. Like I said, too bad can’t get money back.
