Yuasa YUAM620BH YTX20HL-BS Maintenance Free H Series AGM Battery with Acid pack

YUASA is the gold standard of motorcycle batteries. These are OEM for most major manufacturers. After 5 years, the one in my 2020 Indian was getting a bit weak on cold mornings so I replaced it with a bargain brand Lithium LiFePO4. Big mistake. It had more than enough Cranking Amps, but was lacking in Amp Hours. So I cut my losses and returned to a good old American made, traditional AGM like the manufacturer specified. This version comes with the electrolyte pack you add yourself. It is a small extra step that ensures you get the freshest battery possible. The process is very easy, but then you need a 2 amp AGM compatible charger to charge the battery.

Good place to get a battery. Used in a 1991 Softail custom. Description stated it would not fit. Go by the pole orientation, the rating and dimensions. I've used these batteries for probably 15 years. If you follow the directions for initial charge you should get at least 4 to 5 years service. Good price, well packaged and fast shipping

We had an issue with this battery and had to request a warranty replacement. This is the only issue I have ever had with this battery as I have purchased a few over the years so no big deal. What is a big deal though, is that the vendor, BatteryTech LLC, is absolutely awesome to deal with. There response to the warranty request was super quick and very courteous and prompt. Issue was addressed in the quickest possible time frame. Every once in awhile vendors with excellent Custome Service comes along and impresses you. BatteryTech LLC is one of those vendors. Battery is junk. This is the same battery that came with my ATV when bought new and it lasted 7 years before needing replacement. This one lasted less than 6 months. I followed all directions upon receipt and nothing but disappointments.

A couple things I want to touch on. First, Amazon states this does not fit my 2021 Yamaha Kodiak 700 EPS LE. I called my dealer and in fact this is the same battery but with 310 cca. He said it's a good upgrade, no issues. Second, as you can see in the photo, the acid levels are way off from being equal. I called Yuasa and was told that the 3 vials on each side share a common vane on the bottom and to lay the acid pack flat and it would equalize in about 20 minutes. Well, after a couple hours it was the same. What I did was hold the acid pack horizontally and gently squeeze the fuller vials and eventually I got them equal. I took one star off for that. Also make sure you let the battery sit after you add the acid for a couple hours before you charge it.

Amazon data misrepresents our OEM YTX20L-BS as not fitting. Evidently, this is because the YTX20HL-BS features exactly the same profile, but upgrades CCA from 270 to 320. Internet AI searches confirmed that both batteries are 6 7/8" x 3 7/16" x 6 1/8" profiles. As the CAN-AM installation lays this battery on what we would usually consider its side, the 3 7/16" dimension equates to battery height, including clearance. The battery actually measures 3 3/8 in this dimension. I carefully followed the factory instructions for filling with the electrolyte and charging the battery. The only issue I had was that the fill in the different electrolyte cylinders varied widely (see attached picture). This was not a fault of the seals, which were not leaking. Despite the 250-to-320 increase in CCA, I could discern no difference in cranking speed. But our machine started instantaneously. We got an impressive 10 years of service out of the original YUASA despite extremely cold winters, so we stuck with this brand, and will expect repeat performance.

Great battery at a great price. Don't be scared off by filling the electrolyte yourself. It is very straight forward and easy to do (talk about a fresh battery!). Also pay no attention to the fitment guide here. I'm not sure the seller has is activated at all. Everything I put in says "Does Not Fit". Look up Yuasa directly and pull the fitment guide there. This battery Fit my 2008 Harley Davidson Softail FXCWC perfectly as indicated on the Yuasa website. Took an overnight trickle to get it fully charged.
