works as expected without overclocking (duh)
As far as I can tell through use on different projects these are 'as good as' other Amica ESP8266 modules. 3.17 monies is the lowest cost I could find on the Bay Of E for 5 or more modules with crazy slow 40 day shipping. There are occasionally unexpected odd ascii characters at the start of serial monitor. Maybe this is more of a problem for more nuanced applications?AZdelivery orders a sufficient quantity apparently to have their mark stamped on the pcb.Would buy again when price drops to 9 monies per 3 packI am using quality Anker (data capable) USB cables. I am using 5V power through microUSB. I have not tried providing power through GPIO pins in 5v or 3.3v yet. YMMVI set the UART driver speed to 57.6k. I transfer sketches at a slower rate than suggested. This seems prudent. Problems? Try slower xfer, stop overclocking.

It's dead Jim
I received this and was hoping to use this as an update to my WeMos. I needed more inputs than it had. Unfortunately, while the serial chip was detected properly, there is no communication between it and the ESP1866. I don't see boot messages when using the Arduino Serial Monitor. The Arduino IDE fails to program it, which many others have mentioned. I also tried using the NodeMCU flash utility. It sees the device but cannot communicate with the processor. I jumpered D0 to ground and the LED lights up, but it doesn't make any difference. I also tried many combinations of the reset and flash switches.Fortunately, the seller was very responsive and quickly refunded my money in addition to offering 50% off a replacement. I'd stay away from this version with the CP1202 serial chip which seems to have a higher failure rate than the version that uses the CH340x serial converter.

MCU busted at 5V VIN
This is not acceptable. I bought these a while back. I used 5V to power my NodeMCU...it got burned and no longer usable. One of your datasheet clearly says 5V on VIN is ok. Please respond or refund my money

Couldn’t get it to work
Couldn’t program this up. Tried flashing it with Arduino IDE and esptool. Read all over for things to try including attaching additional power in case usb from the computer doesn’t provide enough even though the cables and computer I used have had no problem with other Arduino boards. The port is recognized by the IDE when the board is plugged in but espcomm_sync keeps failing.

Great little boards
These were a great price and work very well. I currently am using them to create different sensors for my home automation system. Their website is German but has an English version (mostly) except in the cart. Everything is in German and I had to get Google to translate it in order to get the free e-book. Still gets 5 stars though for the devices.

So far, so good. Economical choice if you use MacOS.
This is the second NodeMCU I bought. The first one, from IdeaSpark, had some odd USB-Serial chip that Mac OS couldn't recognize. This one uses a driver that Mac OS already had loaded. Easily recognized by Arduino IDE. WiFi works well at 2.4Ghz.

No DOAs
I ordered 10 of these modules for a build project. It was so popular, 10 more were ordered. All worked as expected.

Great little dev board!
No issues with this ESP8266 board. Wi-Fi works reliably. I loaded mine with micro-python, and it's great for developing small applications.
