Super nice

I had to deduct a star because I had to return the first car since it was defective and wouldn't turn on. Neither charged battery would allow the car to turn on. It took some effort to go thru Amazon, but they promptly sent another within a couple days after I returned the first car. Thankfully the second car turned right on with lights and noise. The transformation part of this car is really cool and fun. It can be driven with the remote in car mode or in robot mode. The demo mode is probably the most fun, but I'd rather be a participant in the action. The problem is that the car doesn't steer with its' front wheels, but only has a little swivel wheel hidden underneath, and instead drives by moving one of the rear wheels faster than the other. In robot mode that's kinda nice because you can make him spin around in circles. But for a car it's not the traditional way a car drives and so it feels like a ripoff. The car also doesn't drive very fast, but with a car of this large size that is a good thing for many kids who would crash and break it within minutes. The car works great, but with a device this complex I could predict this item breaking if not driven with care. I recommend this for kids that are careful with their toys, which is very few, but they will love this tranformer. For kids who love driving cars recklessly and at high speed, they may be disappointed in how this car drives. It really does look cool though!

We gave this to a 6 year old grandson for Christmas, and it still works! He plays with it often.

My nephew is only 4 but into Transformers. The combination of a remote control car which he's never had before and the conversion to the Transformer was perfect for him. He is younger than the recommended age for this item but he figured it out right away how to use it. Parents just need to make sure it's powered off after use to save the battery charge on both the car and remote. Very nice looking compared to similar items on the market that are much cheaper in price, smaller and appear to be cheaper in appearance. A bit pricey at $119 but seller had it on sale at $80. The large size is nice. My nephew really liked it.
