Great stools, just minor mismatched
When I opened the Amazon box, I noticed that both boxes (my 2 stools each had their own box) were different colors (one more brown, the other more yellow), but the text on them indicated the same product. I assembled one stool and it was perfect, exactly what I was looking for! When I unwrapped the pieces for the 2nd stool, I immediately noticed the wood didn't feel as smooth, the edges were a little rougher, but I didn't think anything of it. In the end, if you look closely and run your hands on both to compare, the wood on one is much more smoother whereas the other is more grainy. Since they're both tucked under the island, I'm not fussing too much, but I am a little disappointed that they're not a perfect match.

The Stool; a fantastical assembly experience.
I just got this stool, but I always forget to write reviews, so I figured I'd go ahead and review it as far as I can thus far. I really like the look of this stool. It looks more expensive than I the actual cost. The stool I recieved DID have a defect in the seat portion; it looks like a section of the wood was gouged somehow, and it was painted over rather than being sanded down. It does not affect the function of the stool, however, and I did not notice it until I ran my hand over the top. The assembly was a breeze. It took me less than 15 minutes to fully assemble, with only an over-excited 5 year old to help, plus an autistic 3 year old, angry 2 year old, and pesky 7 month old to make assembly more interesting. The directions were easy to understand, and it required no tools other than the allen wrench that came with the product. I do recommend using some carpenter's glue to secure the screw covers, as mine simply will not stay in the holes. That's my only complaint about the assembly. Once assembled, everyone tried it out, and the verdict(s) is(are): 5yo: It kinda hurts to climb up on with bare feet. 3yo: I like being so high up in da sky. 2yo: I need help, Mama! Me: It appears sturdy, with no apparent wobble or creakiness. Husband: It's fine. I don't know why you thought we needed a stool. Which brings me to my final point, the weight limit. My husband is not overweight, but at just over 6 feet tall, comes to close to the weight limit for his comfort. I don't see it listed in the product description, but a label on the underside of the stool's seat warns that it can only hold 220 lbs. Not an issue for me, but I imagine there are plenty of people who might consider ordering this stool for whom that would be a deterrent. To sum it up, for a good price, you're getting a nice looking stool that is easy to assemble, might need some wood glue, and holds a smaller amount of weight than I had expected (though to be honest, I'm not really a stool-weight-limit expert, so this might be a very appropriate limit.)

Beautiful, but...
When I first opened the box and pulled out the saddle seat I was very impressed. Its sturdy high quality wood with a tag from indonesia. All of my wooden indonesian furniture (mostly from world market) is super durable, and looks great even through many moves, so I was happy to see this. I purchased 2 stools and assembly of the first one was a beast! As many reviewers have noted, the provided allen wrench is awful - luckily i had a sturdier one - but the screw holes were not properly seeded making it very difficult to assemble. Finally got it done - but one of the attached wooden nails split the stool unfortunately wobbles... which concerns me in terms of durability. For the second stool I used a ratchet driver instead of an allen wrench and followed step instructions i found for this product on you tube (rather than the step instructions provided) and it went MUCH smoother. This bench turned out great. No spilt wood nails or wobbles. I wish the 1st stool had gone as smoothly and turned out as well - but they do look lovely. I hope they both last. I really think the 2nd one will - not sure about the 1st one bc of the assembly difficulty and wobble (?) Overall can't beat the price for this style and quality so I'm glad i purchased.

End Result good, getting there a Challenge
I appreciate the honest reviews when I am making a purchase, so I am doing the same. Once assembled, this bar stool is very nice looking and sturdy. I really like them, even after the major hassel to assemble. I would give the final product 5 stars. However, as for the assembly, 1 star. Unfortunately, in the case of ALL 3 of the stools I purchased, the screws were poor quality with thick and rough threads and larger than the drilled holes. No possible way to screw together. You have one of 2 options. For the 4 larger screws, you may either drill the holes "slightly" larger to accommodate the screw provided, or do what I did and purchase new screws the correct size of the holes. I did this because I did not want to run the risk of cracking the wood, especially in the 8 smaller holes. (this area is small). You will need to try the screws at the store to get the right size. I ended up with (4) 2 1/2" wood screws for the legs and (8) 1 1/2:" wood screws for the braces. The wrench provided with the screws is poor quality and difficult to use too. When I purchased new screws, the Phillips was super easy. Assembled in less than 15 minutes each stool. I hope this will help make your experience easier than mine. Yes, Ladies, you can do this on your own. I did. :-) Good Luck.
