This is a great gesso with a clear smoother “tooth”. It is great for prepping thinner pages of books for adding art to the pages.

I have an old ledger/journal book that my Mom started back in the 1950's/60's that I want to also journal in/alter but wanted to protect what was already in there. I had some Liquitex Clear Gesso that I tried on the cover page and it did leave a gritty texture (as stated in another review), so based on reviews I purchased this Clear Gesso. IT IS PERFECT!!!The pages are not wrinkling and it leaves a nice, smooth protective cover on the existing ink.And wow, definitely want to preserve this info. Check out their mortgage info in 1956!!On another note, I was almost swayed by some of the negative reviews on clumpiness, and drying, but did not have any issues like that. Strange that the product couldn't just be returned/exchanged, seems easier than complaining about it ??Anyways, totally recommend this product!!!

I have nothing to compare those two but from all the reviews I’ve read and all the times I’ve used it it has protecting my pages from watercolor scrubbing I do let my just so cure overnight and it works fantastically I’ve also added marble dust to it and that is a new project I’m using but I want to protect then pages from my watercolor in some of my color books that are not so thick papered and I have just begun using this product and it has not change the color of my pages so that is a plus and so far I haven’t had a bleed through and it really is icy transparent. It’s also archival in non-toxic. Attached is a WIP from the coloring book Romantuc Country and some Sennelier paints I’m using from my own pallette. It wa a great outcome and my paints layered and dried quite nicely but I could lift and mix in the page as well!

Used this to coat a paint by number canvas after I had taped it in place. It was easily applied, dried transparent and made the canvas lay completely flat. It also seems to help in the ease of paint application.

Works well but is very messy. A bit harder to do on paper thats in the Bible.

I take unattractive (sort of) silk-like flowers and gesso them. White gesso, and they come out beautifully, like porcelaine flowers, a bit heavy but so creamy and lovely. The problem is that while white gesso on flowers is absolutely gorgeous, it only produces white flowers. Of course they can be colored, spray painted, etc but ... never seeing clear gesso at Blicks (it may exist, but I never saw it) and wanting to use the vibrant spring colors of silk-like flowers at Michaels, I was so happy to find this light, easy to use clear gesso. It protects the silk flowers and is so easy to apply with a sponge brush. Safer than a spray, not that I know of a clear gesso spray. I also used it to give body to a page in a journal, smooth as silk. This is wonderful.
