In the fully closed transport mode, the handles are closed over the plier head. To use the pliers, you pivot the handles open. With the handles opens you can also select one of the other tools, using a fingernail to select a tool and pivot it out of the handle. You then use that tool or knive blade with one or both handles closed over the pliers. When done, the knife blade easily folds back into the handle, and the handles easily fold over the piler jaws. One important note: the knife blade and other tools do not lock open, so improper use could cause them to fold close unexpectedly. **Q: How to unlock** A: You will unfold the pliers by pulling the handles away from each other.
