Sunday Afternoons Solar Bucket Hat

This is my second one I get. Five years ago I bought the last and I used it until almost wore the fabric out! The best hat I have ever had. The color fade from the beaten from the tropical sun and elements. I am so happy I found it here.

Love that it has sun protection built in. It is light and cool.

This hat is great! I have an Outdoor Research bucket hat, and I like it except the brim isn't wide enough to cover most of my face and neck. While this hat has the exact same width of brim 2 1/2 inches, it doesn't slope down quit as much as the OR hat effectively giving my head more shade, enough to protect my nose, unlike the OR. It's also easier to adjust the fit, and the venting on the crown is the best. This is a great high tech sun hat to keep you cool in the hot summer sun!

I bought this hat for an extended vacation trip to Southeast Asia where packing space was at a premium. It worked fine for sun protection on extended hikes with limited shade at locations such as Angkor Wat. It is packable and easily fit into one of the outside compartments of my small day bag. The ventilated construction also helped with the humidity, and the chinstrap was essential on some of the open air transportation modes we took. It laundered well in a lingerie bag in the washing machine and regained its shape when dry. I ordered my usual hat size and found that this one fit just a little snug around the top of my forehead, not really uncomfortable but I would have preferred a slightly looser fit and would recommend ordering the next size up if available. I gave it four stars instead of five because of the slightly snug fit, and also because the brim is somewhat narrower than I expected, such that the hat provides inconsistent protection of nose and neck areas if you are doing something really active in the sun.

This came as a kid-sized hat, like the hat but it didn’t fit at all…

My son LIVES in these hats because of his chemo sun reactions. He is 9 and graduated from Sunday Afternoons’ child sizes. This is perfect because of the size changing band and the bendability. And so breathable here in the hot south! We have 4 and keep them anywhere, scrunch them up, wash them, ANYTHING! So durable.

This is a great brand (Sunday Afternoons) and is worth every penny. It is a great value considering the quality of the hats and lifetime guarantee! This bucket hat is really functional AND stylish - this one looks less like a camping expedition hat (I own two of those!) and more of a beach hat, which is more "street friendly". :)
